★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Villa Maria, at Ligres Beach, is the kind of experience one fantasizes about - a beautiful, secluded beach, a family-run resort with fantastic food, and almost no one else around to clutter the experience. We stayed for several days in a very clean, comfortable room, for a very economical price. I would recommend the sea view for sure! The pristine beach with deep, clear waters was steps away, and we were given recommendations for other amazing beaches as well.
Besides the locale, there is a very comfortable veranda where meals are served. Without exception, we had the best food at Villa Maria on our entire trip! Tony and his family worked tirelessly to meet everyone's every need. It was a fantasy trip and we hope to return soon!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A welcoming place that somehow manages to be busy but quiet, perhaps due to the frenetic activity of the obliging staff. It benefits from a remote location and gives access to the best of the southern beaches. The hotel has a quirky rustic charm and a lively stream runs almost through the place lending a calming natural air to the restaurant/lounge area. My room was the budget option, but was clean, functional and well priced.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This outstanding location is mesmerising. The Villa itself is stunning and the food is delicious. Freshly made by the staff and locally sourced ingredients. Couple this along with a refreshing waterfall shower, just meters away and the gorgeous rock pools below it. I now know the true meaning of paradise. Walk the beach, eat the fresh food and you will feel 10 years younger. A great family run Taverna.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We loved this place! Directly on Ligres Beach, wonderful view and cozy family environment. Maria and her team are super nice! We enjoyed a big and tasty breakfast and sun on the terrace. We would definitely come back again next time we go to Crete :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Everything is wonderful at Villa Maria, starting with Tony and his mother Maria who are the most caring hosts you can imagine, so much so that you feel as welcome as an old friend. They are always there when you need them. The location, only half an hour away from Spili, is very beautiful and off the beaten tracks with a striking contrast between the mountains and the beaches. The views from the hotel are breathtakingly picturesque. I stayed in room Katerina, very nice, perfectly clean, with a very good bed and a terrace with comfy chairs. Plenty of hot water for the shower. Maria is a very fine cook too, the food is truly delicious and the open restaurant a very cosy place. On the big terrace, there are also coffee tables with good chairs to have a rest in the shade or have an ouzo. Wi-Fi works perfectly in both the restaurant and the room. Altogether, a top experience (and very good value for money)! Thank you again for your kindness and hospitality, Tony and Maria ??
