★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great food, lovely relaxing atmosphere thanks to the friendly owners and laid back crowd listening to reggae music. Breathtaking view over the sea. Literally on the beach, just wonderful place in Crete, a small paradise.
It has several small rooms that have recently been renovated for reasonable prices per night. Family friendly.
Place can be windy and sea can be rough so check before you go.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing tavern on the beach! The food is so fresh and prices are sooo cheap!! It’s a family run establishment and everyone is friendly and warm. It’s really refreshing to come up from the beach and have a plate of fresh fruit or enjoy a nice juice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A sort of other worldly hippie charm. Genuinely very nice people running a taverna which strikes me as lost in place and time. It used to be really quite difficult to get there, but the new coast road from prevelli beach (great drive) makes it physically easier to get here. Probably a bit trickier to get in the right groove. (At least for me) Reminds me of roads not taken, and alternative choices. At least that's the vibe I get.
I like visiting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here in Sept 2019 and loved the atmosphere and position/view. Always busy and you may have to wait for a table but always worth it. The two brothers who run the place are cool but service can be a bit sketchy… the food has always been good. Deffo worth a visit but there are no beach beds or umbrellas to use if you want to use the beautiful Ligres beach
Update May 2021: still exactly the same I am glad to report!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A guarantee! It's the second time we come to Crete and we decided to come back to Ligres without hesitation! The tavern is managed by Michalis and his family and you will always find friendly people to welcome you, fresh food and wonderful fish! The atmosphere is totally laid back and easy, you really feel you are outside of the busy world every time u come here. I definitely recommend ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came here for lunch and some shade from the sun. We took as appetizer the spicy cheese with some pita - both very good. I had a schnitzel and my husband the traditional lamb - both came with fries included. Mine was good, but the lamb was extraordinary. I completed the plate with some fresh orange juice and he with a beer. We got homemade cake for dessert on the house and also refillable water to drink for free. Total check was 26.60 euro. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and it might take some time to get your order, but no one is in a hurry here. The waiters seem a little chaotic, but you can see they are very relaxed, always smiling and friendly, trying to make some jokes. On the tables, under a glass, there are pictures of the owners and guests, from their childhood giving family vibes. Also, the view of the sea is magnificent. Enjoyed the entire experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The location is excellent with a very nice view. There is a small and very useful playground for the children. The food was not very good in comparison to the restaurants in Triopetra and Spili for example. They should also improve the service as they didn't clear the table after we finished and flies were constantly coming. We had to do it by ourselves and put the plates in a corner of the table and sit on the other. It was like they didn't care. I write this comment hoping that they will improve because we really liked the location and we would like to come again.
