Στο σημείο αυτό υψωνόταν μέχρι το 1874, οπότε και κατεδαφίστηκε, η κύρια είσοδος της πόλης, η Χρυσή Πύλη, από την οποία ξεκινούσε η βασική οδική αρτηρία της πόλης, ο ρωμαϊκός decumanus maximus και η μετέπειτα Λεωφόρος των βυζαντινών. Though the walls are typical all the way long, you keep looking and staring in search of sth nnew.. had I got more ttime, I would have spent more and more hours just walking again and again and again. While you walk you would hear the church bells ring and you would feel how holy the place is.. loved it.. Ps. Take a friend of yours with you so as not to get bored. :))) recommended.

There are many historical sites all over Thessaloniki, many of which are not widely known. On Google Maps, just tap the compass to see attractions near you and just explore. There are many cats in the area who follow you along the way, I suppose for food or they're just being friendly.
