★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So good we ate here twice! The owner is a very warm lady and the staff is extremely friendly. Tasty traditional dishes are offered in a large courtyard at the centre of the village, portions are big and the food is delicious. We particularly liked the katerinio (a minced meat pie with a delicious crust) and the carob ice cream which is served at the end of every meal. This charming restaurant is worth the detour, and is only a short trip from rethymno/arkadi (you can always visit the nearby cave, reptisland if you have any children or the honey museum for a sweet treat while you are in Melidoni - we really enjoyed all these experiences ourselves).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Surprisingly nice find! Stopped for coffee, drawn in by the cute decor. Great coffee and tiramisu, very welcoming host.
We decided to drive back for lunch and we were not disappointed! Really tasty local products and a unique aesthetic. At the end we were treated to some fantastic, home-made carob ice-cream and cinnamon drink. Well worth a visit!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ate here after visiting the caves near melidoni. Setting is very nice, owner (Katarinio) is a very friendly and joyful lady who takes pride in her food. I ordered the Katarinio because it was named after her so it must be something she takes pride in and she looked very honored. She gave information about the food and just cheered me up.
Food indeed was good tho the salad she suggested was really big for 2 people to accompany the main dish.
