Al Mare Hotel - Al Mare Hotel

The hotel staff were actually lovely during our stay but what's happened since has been a night mare. Our stay: we bought a room that was discounted. When we got there our room was in the basement and on first entry there was a putrid smell of mustiness. There was a dehumidifier going and the aircon was put on straight away. I complained about the smell and was told it was fine and because of the dehumidifier which was working in the room. For the time being I accepted this as it was last minute and I didn't want to be a pain. I now know from my own research that the strong musty smell is the smell that bed bugs release when there is an infestation. The 2 single beds had been pushed together to create a large double bed for my partner and I, which I thought was helpful. We stayed in the room as there were no other rooms available. The bed was so large that we had our own blankets. My partner placed his bags on the fold out couch and I laid mine on the floor. The 2nd day my partner made a comment that he thinks this hotel had bed bugs, as he had bites on his legs and ankles. I was not bitten so said to him it must have been mosquitos and dismissed his comments. We were there for 4 days and he kept commenting that he was sure there were bed bugs. We left and my bites appeared a few days later than him as I am darker and react differently. He realised bag was infested! We took all necessary precautions so we didn't bring them home but 2 weeks later and we're still having to fumigate our house. I have had to throw all my bedding out and purchase new bedding. I have bought a stream cleaner and I have been taking all our clothes and washing to the launderette to be washed and dried thoroughly... a very expensive holiday, which unfortunately it seems travel insurance does not cover? I have made multiple attempts to contact the hotel who after many emails sent back a very disappointing email saying they do not accept that they have bed bugs as they clean the mattresses once a month.....ummmm ... no apology, no thank you so that they can sort it out and not have it spread through their hotel, no offer of refund (not that I asked). The infestation was most likely in the fold out couch where his bags lay, and/or the separate blanket the was using. Either way his bag was definitely infested. I thought the staff were lovely so wanted to deal with this privately but they do not want to hear it or apologise so I'm going public so that no one else goes through the ordeal that we are going through. I feel dirty! Do not stay here. Do not stay here!

The location is amazing, right on the beach. The hotel is very nice, only minor things we didn't like - we booked a room with side sea view, and in reality there was no sea view. This was a bit disappointing but didn't affect our stay much :)

We have just had a fantastic week here for a friends wedding. we all stayed in the hotel (12) which apart from an issue with the rooms was amazing. The staff are all fantastic very friendly and there to help you whenever you need it. the hotel has 2 great pools 1 large and one Children it situated right on the beach and the views are beautiful. The wedding went without a hitch and the meal was amazing so much to eat and drink. A big thank you to Maddie, Vicky and all the staff for a wonderful day. If we go back to Zante again we shall definitely be stopping here again.

Very nice hotel, excellent location, comfortable bed and clean room. There are free sunbeds for the guest, at the pool or on the beach!

BEST HOTEL EVER!! All of the receptionists were so lovely. Especially Theano! She made us feel so at home and was always eager to help us. We will be back so we can see her again!! George made us the best welcome drinks, too! The restaurant is delicious and has the best staff of any restaurant I’ve ever been to! We LOVE this hotel!!!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Al Mare, in August this year. I absolutely have to confess that is a great place, verry clean with amazing staff. The pool is fantastic and the position is excellent. I appreciated the efforts for Covid anti-contagion. I’ll definitely comeback! If I'm allowed, I would advise the owners to consider a summer outfit for the bar staff. I've seen them sweating under the sun. As this is a terrace service, not an indoor bar, a white polo-shirt and blue shorts would be perfect and appropriate for the location. I really hope to see all you soon.

Great place to chill. The bartenders are really nice and friendly. really enjoyed our multiple days at the pool/beach there. €8 for sunbed Also great food and drinks. Special thanks to Andreas, you are way to nice for this planet.
