★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ο Αρχιεπίσκοπος Δαμασκηνός, κατά κόσμον Δημήτριος Παπανδρέου, (Δορβιτσιά Ναυπακτίας, 3 Μαρτίου 1891- Αθήνα 20 Μαΐου 1949) υπήρξε κορυφαία εκκλησιαστική και πολιτική προσωπικότητα της νεότερης Ελλάδας. Διετέλεσε Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αθηνών και πάσης Ελλάδος (1941 - Μάιος 1949) Αντιβασιλέας και Πρωθυπουργός της Ελλάδας. Ήταν ο 11ος Αρχιεπίσκοπος Αθηνών από της ανακήρυξης της Αυτοκέφαλης Εκκλησίας της Ελλάδος. Ανάμεσα στις πολλές διακρίσεις που έλαβε, ανακηρύχθηκε «Δίκαιος των Εθνών», τίτλος που αποδίδεται σε όσους έσωσαν τη ζωή σε Εβραίους στον πόλεμο.
 Archbishop Damaskinos, according to Dimitrios Papandreou (Dorvitsia, Nafpaktia, March 3, 1891- Athens, May 20, 1949) was a leading ecclesiastical and political figure in modern Greece. He served as Archbishop of Athens and all of Greece (1941 - May 1949), Viceroy and Prime Minister of Greece. He was the 11th Archbishop of Athens since the proclamation of the Autocephalous Church of Greece. Among the many distinctions he received, he was proclaimed "Righteous of the Nations," a title given to those who saved the lives of Jews in the war.
