Πιθανολογείται ότι οικοδομήθηκε στα μέσα του 19ου αιώνα για χρήση του ως τελωνείο από το Σταμάτιο Kλεάνθη, αρχιτέκτονα που έμεινε γνωστός για τη δημιουργία του πολεοδομικού σχεδίου της Aθήνας, σε συνεργασία με τον Έντουαρντ Σάουμπερτ. Ως τελωνείο λειτούργησε μέχρι το 1999. H πρόσοψη του Παλιού Τελωνείου είναι τριμερής με στοά και στηρίζεται σε πεσσούς. Το κτίριο του Παλιού Tελωνείου είναι απλό, ορθογώνιο σε κάτοψη, με συμμετρικές εισόδους και παράθυρα. Διαθέτει ισόγειο επιφάνειας 376 τετραγωνικών μέτρων και πατάρι. Το κτίριο του Παλιού Tελωνείου έχει χαρακτηριστεί ως ιστορικό διατηρητέο μνημείο και έργο τέχνης και παραχωρήθηκε το 2014 από το Υπουργείο Οικονομικών στο Υπουργείο Πολιτισμού για τη στέγαση πολιτιστικών εκδηλώσεων. The Old Customs is located on the coastal road of Nafplio in Argolida and is a building example of neoclassicism in the city. It is believed that it was built in the mid-19th century for use as a customs office by Stamatios Kleanthis, an architect who became famous for creating the urban plan of Athens, in collaboration with Edward Saubert. It operated as a customs office until 1999. The facade of the Old Customs is three-part with a portico and rests on pillars. The building of the Old Customs is simple, rectangular in plan, with symmetrical entrances and windows. It has a ground floor of 376 square meters and a loft. The building of the Old Customs has been designated as a historical monument and a work of art and was donated in 2014 by the Ministry of Finance to the Ministry of Culture for the accommodation of cultural events.

It was given to the city for cultural purpose and in that form, after reconstruction that should save traditional and historical view of building, it will open the doors as place for economic history of Peloponnesus.
