This is about 30 feet long. A little underwhelming but great to checkout if you are on this side of the island. In my opinion it is not worth the drive for just this. Beaches are good in the town below.

Worth the brief stop on the way to Apollonas. This is a very impressive site overlooking the coast and the town. After seeing the Kouros at Melanes you might think that they could all be similar, but this is not quite the case. While in Melanes the surroundings are an attraction by themselves, the Kouros in Apollonas has it all, the detail, the size and the surroundings.

If you are on the far side of Naxos, near Apollona town then it is definitely worth the visit. The tour guide said it was 56 steps from the road to the statue, so not too far. I have some balance issues and there are no railings, like most places in Greece, so make sure you have someone who can provide some support. The statue itself is quite incredible. The sheer size and weight of it is amazing. It cracked and broke while being worked on, so that is why it was left there and never moved. The view of the town and sea is spectacular from there as well.

Not as impressive as you might have imagined, marble statue-to-be but never left the rock from which it is carved. The view is nice, and it's a good break before driving back to Naxos.

A single stature of Dionysus lying down. Maybe far too much to drink. Worth a stop to have a look.

This is a great place at the road to Apollonas. This is the unfinished statue of Dionysos. Worth to see and climb up a couple of stairs.

Very interesting attraction. I was really curious to check it. It was a awesome experience, touching even, to imagine the old people figuring out that there was good marble mine, extracting it and sculping absolutely enormous statues or, at least, the basics form at the spot. Not to mention the transportation from the mine to the port. Really evocative. Apollonas is a beautiful village with a nice beach and also is the road the leads to the mountains villages.

What an amazing site to see! Parking was a little tough (right on the side of the road at the base of the stairs) It's only about roughly 50 steps up and you're there. Not only does it have the largest kuros (statue) in Naxos there, but it also has an amazing view also over looking a near by town. Definitely a must go see if you love history and beautiful sights.
