S	Stefan Haberberg on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The food was good. We had meat, cannot judge the seafood. The owner is very nice and welcoming, for some people maybe over the top. Remaining waiters where more interested to pull other new people in. Not the best food in Rethymno but you can give a try
S	Selene McCowan on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic hospitality and great food. The owner, Nico, was so friendly. He would sit down with ALL customers and have shots of Raki (on the house at no charge) with them. We had a great time and the food was just authentic Greek cuisine with fantastic taste.

The beef Stifado and the beef Kleftiko were amazing. Got 2 rakie and watermelon for free. So, great service and we were glad that we choose it.

The portions are relatively big (salad is for 2) and with reasonable prices. I’m giving it one star less as it’s lacking the traditional Greek custom for serving bread with some olive oil/tomato paste as a compliment.
K	Karen Avery on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Stavros Taverna next door was packed out, whereas the Sofra had no clients. This concerned. However, thanks to all the great reviews, I asked for a table. The waiter at the Sofra explained that the clients (families with kids) were after a different menu. That many the Sofra clients come from Trip Advisor. I was disappointed that the stuffed vine leaves were not available, recently made - they were not yet good to eat. So I went with Zucchini and then prawn risotto. All I can say is - absolutely gorgeous food. The zucchini was fragrant and the risotto amazing, great dish found in an amazing restaurant. The Sofra fully deserves the good reviews. For visitors - do not be put off by empty seats - this just means they give you their undivided attention and food cooked to order. I only wish this was not my last day!

I just had to close my eyes and feel the wonderful taste. The salad needed a little bit of salt and pepper, but they were provided at the table, good quality and grindable.
