The place is beautiful. There is a lot of ruins and some explanations here and there adding more context. The landscape around Kastros is also amazing. A must-see in Skiathos!

Really beautiful to walk around, amazing views. Recommend driving down! We parked at the top and regretted it when walking back up!

To reach the castro there are two options. Either you stopped the car where the paved road ends and walk for 40 minutes, or keep going with the car, go along a unpaved street for 10 minutes. There’s a parking spot at the end. Once you reach the end of the unpaved road there is a very wild path for about twenty minutes before reaching the settlement. Definitely not accessible for those with mobility problems. Breath-taking view though.

Nice place in the north of Skiathos. Fantastic viewpoint at the real end of this island. Great for a sunset/sundown hike. A must visit place if you are come to skiathos.

Crazy drive down what looks like a river bead. Then onto narrow (single track) but good surface road. Very steep. Parking at bottom. Castle closed for refurbishment at the moment, so wasted trip! People parked at top...and way up because the road looked so bad. They regretted it on the walk back up. They looked fit to drop. :)

A beautiful place on the cliffs to create unforgettable memories in the form of a photo… but when I was here, unfortunately the access to the cliff, where the Greek flag is, was closed… so we had to show in the form of videos and photos from the drone ?

The old Castro (fortress) of Skiathos from the Byzantine times is definitely worth a visit when on the island. Its rich pre-Ottoman history, role in the life of the locals and the fact that it used to be full of chapels will fascinate you. Visit Castro and travel in time. It’s not very hard to get to, but a 4WD car is recommended. Be prepared for lots of hiking, but drinking water from the source there will be more than rewarding ❤️

The ancient village of Skiathos is one of the highlights of the island. It was inhabited for hundreds of years until the islanders moved back to what is now Skiathos town in the 19th century. Initally they had lived there but pirates forced them to move up on the high cliff of Kastro. Today only ruins remain as well as some restored churches, but the setting on the cliff is spectacular. Make sure to go by jeep to Kastro and not in a tourist boat. Then you will have the town all to yourself and have plenty time to explore.
