★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Although it used to be a nice hotel in times past, unfortunately my recent experience was less than optimum.
The room stank of cigarette smoke, although I was on a non-smoking floor, the toilet seat in the room's bathroom was a few sizes too small for the toilet size (which means you have to sit on the actual porcelain, which is unsanitary). And finally, the breakfast was uninspired and had clearly sat cold long before being served (so to speak - self-service and all that)..
The prices, though, they are very good.
So if you're looking for a very economic stay right in the city center, this might be for you.
If you expect a true 4 star experience, better look elsewhere first..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Close to the city action and port. Clean rooms and great beds. In addition to the great breakfast, they have a cool rooftop with a small pool and bar. Enjoy the music, a drink and a nice sight of the city from every angle. Be aware, some of the rooms look into a very small concrete inside court of the building. In this case, the windows are permanently blinded. The room was incredibly comfortable for a family of four.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a big family room where the kid’s area has it’s own AC, TV and table. Room was correct and beddings were comfortable. There’s a buffet breakfast with a lot variety and changes everyday. Everything is within walking distance. Great location, bus stop and taxi station just across. There’s a pool upstairs but it was small and full of people. The rooftop bar has a nice view. It’s a practical and convenient hotel! The archaeological museum is just across.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The rooms are updated and a good size but parts of the hotel are still a bit out of date. The pool is small but situated on a nice rooftop with a roomy bar to get drinks and food. The staff wasn't the most helpful and we struggled to deal with parking. They said they have valet for 10 Euros a day, and just told us to leave the car in front of the hotel double parked. Around the hotel, paid parking are only until 23:00. Plan ahead if you'll have a car! The breakfast buffet was nice! I finally got my Greek yogurt with honey and walnuts. Location wise, the hotel is very central with tons of restaurants and shops around. Walkable to the Venetian fort and water front. The Knossos Palace is only a short 15 minute drive as well.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed for one night here on our way out of Crete. The hotel is very centrally located with a roof top bar area which is really nice and the bartender was super friendly. We ended up hanging out there for around three hours. The pool was nice but a bit chilly for us, I think in the summer it would be perfect when the weather heats up a bit. The breakfast buffet was really nice and a lot more than we were expecting. It's not a simple continental breakfast, they have a wide assortment of hot and cold foods. The only issue we had was with booking. On their website they said they have a best price guarantee. I had found a rate on Agoda for 62 Euro and sent an email to the hotel with a screenshot of the Agoda rate. They said they had no rooms available for two people on the night we requested even though there were rooms advertised through Agoda. After some back and forth emails I eventually booked through Agoda because they would not match the online price. We usually like booking directly through the hotel to cut out the middleman but in this case, it was not possible.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed at the Capsis Astoria as part of an Education First tour (EF Tours). We had over 30 people in our group. We arrived before check-in which we knew would happen weeks in advance, but they refused to provide us with a secure location for our luggage and suggested leaving our 30 + suitcases in the lobby or as an alternative carry them through town during our tours. Luggage security has never been an issue at any hotel before. The lobby had two open entrances with people moving freely through both entrances to enter the hotel or dine at the restaurant so rolling out a suitcase our two would have been easy.
Most of the rooms were okay and anything out of sorts was quickly managed by the staff. My room, however was dirty and moldy and had a layer of dust all over the floor. The floor also had water stains from the bathroom leaking into the sleeping area as well as the room escape map on the wall heavily damaged by mold and rust stains.
Our tour paid in advance for breakfasts and dinners for all 30 + of us. The food was very good with a great selection but then they charged us for glasses of water. We were told that since the water is undrinkable from the tap they cannot serve it, so instead of providing bottled water as part of our meal, they charged us for it. How can a meal be complete without at least something to drink being provided? It's not like water is that expensive and why wasn't included in the meal price if it was such a hardship on the hotel to provide it?
Overall the hotel was disappointing, dirty, and loud. Something as simple as providing a drink of water without an argument, or basic security for our suitcases would have gone along way to improve our stay.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We loved this hotel and the location. The people were very welcoming and helpful. We weren’t wild about the breakfast but you could find a bite of something to eat. My only complaint would be they closed the rooftop pool area before sunset. I went up 2 nights in a row to watch the sunset and both times it was closed and locked off which was surprising since it offers such beautiful views. The location was excellent and we’d definitely stay here again.
