★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very beautiful and impressive place.it is from Ottoman and Byzantine times,and very well preserved.there is also a museum and a mosque. The area itself deserves to be visited.no payment for entrance.inside the castle there are residents as well

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The castle of Ioannina was built in 528 AD by the Emperor Justinian, to demonstrate the Byzantine Empire’s ambitious character and power.
The castle is divided into four sections: the outer walls, the northwestern citadel, dominated by Aslan Mosque, the southeastern citadel Itch-Kale and finally the actual old castle town of Ioannina.
The walled-in-town covers an area of 20 acres; its perimeter is 2,000m and has a width of 10m.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very nice castle- but the historical sights could be better explained with simple signage, and some more historical sites developed a bit, with parking and directions to the historical site. A bit of investment would increase tourist traffic to this beautiful area

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The castle is very well preserved. The museum and the mosque as well as the tomb of Ali Pasha for sure deserve the visit. The 3 monuments are at the top of the castle but in the small streets towards it you will find some places to drink or eat something. The view from the top is great.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The castle of Ioannina is a very beautiful place to see. It has beautiful small streets and beautiful homes to see. It also has beautiful small motels and beautiful coffee shops to visit. Outside the wall it has souvenir shops and it's right next to the lake. From the top of the city you have a very beautiful view of the lake. It is worth your time to see. Keep in mind, you have to park outside the castle. Only people living in it can enter.
