★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Το 1925 οι κάτοικοι – πρόσφυγες από το Ροδοχώρι (Καραμανλήδες) αποφάσισαν το κτίσιμο του Ι.Ναού στον οποίο έδωσαν το όνομα του Αγ. Δημητρίου. Δεν άργησαν, όμως, να διαφανούν και οι αντιδράσεις των Ποντίων προσφύγων που ζητούσαν επίμονα να δοθεί και το όνομα της Υψώσεως του Τιμίου Σταυρού σε ανάμνηση του Ι.Ναού που είχαν στην αλησμόνητη πατρίδα. Τελικά, έγινε αποδεκτή η ειρηνευτική λύση της διπλής ονομασίας του Ι.Ναού που διατηρείται μέχρι σήμερα.
Η δράση του ιερού ναού είναι ιδιαίτερα αξιοσημείωτη στο χώρο της Μητροπόλεως, μέσα από τη λειτουργία συσσιτίων προς τους άπορους ενορίτες της.
Επίσης, ο ναός πολύ σύντομα έστρεψε το βλέμμα του προς τα νέα παιδιά, μέσα από την ίδρυση της Νεανικής Εστίας "Καππαδοκία"

Στον εσωτερικό χώρο της εκκλησίας, θα περίμενα να υπήρχε καλύτερος εξαερισμός. Είναι ο λόγος που δεν μπόρεσα να παραμείνω για αρκετή ώρα μέσα κατά τη διάρκεια της Θείας Λειτουργίας και επίσης το γεγονός ότι έχουν τα ηχεία στα τέρμα με αποτέλεσμα να σου τρυπάνε τα αυτιά. Κρίμα.
