Η Στοά της Ηχούς κτίστηκε γύρω στα 350 π.Χ. και αποτελούσε το ανατολικό όριο της Ιεράς Άλτης. Με την κατασκευή της απομονώθηκε το Στάδιο από την Άλτη. Οφείλει το όνομά της στη ακουστική της, εφόσον ο ήχος επαναλαμβανόταν επτά φορές. Για το λόγο αυτό ονομαζόταν και Επτάηχος. Στο εσωτερικό της υπήρχε ζωγραφικός διάκοσμος από μεγάλους ζωγράφους της εποχής και ονομάστηκε και Ποικίλη Στοά.
Είναι μήκους 98 μ. και αποτελείται από μία εξωτερική δωρική κιονοστοιχία με 44 κίονες και μία εσωτερική που δεν έχει διευκρινιστεί αν ήταν ιωνική ή κορινθιακή.
Στα μέσα του 3ου αι. π.Χ. μπροστά στη Στοά της Ηχούς κατασκευάστηκε το μνημείο του Πτολεμαίου Β΄ (του φιλάδελφου) και της Αρσινόης. Το μνημείο αυτό αποτελείται από μεγάλη λίθινη κρηπίδα, μήκους 20 μ. και πλάτους 4 μ., που στα δύο άκρα της υπήρχαν δύο ιωνικοί κίονες, ύψους 8,89 μ., πάνω στους οποίους ήταν τοποθετημένα τα επίχρυσα αγάλματα του Πτολεμαίου και της Αρσινόης. Από το εντυπωσιακό μνημείο σώζεται η λίθινη κρηπίδα και τμήματα των ιωνικών κιόνων.
The Echo Gallery in Ancient Olympia
The Echo Gallery was built around 350 BC. and was the eastern boundary of the Holy Alta. With its construction, the Stadium was isolated from Alti. It owes its name to its acoustics, since the sound was repeated seven times. For this reason it was also called Eptaichos. Inside there was a painting decoration by great painters of the time and it was also named Poikili Stoa.
It is 98 m long and consists of an outer Doric colonnade with 44 columns and an inner one that has not been clarified whether it was Ionic or Corinthian.
In the middle of the 3rd c. e.g. The monument to Ptolemy II (of Philadelphia) and Arsinoe was erected in front of the Echo Gallery. This monument consists of a large stone platform, 20 m long and 4 m wide, at both ends of which there were two Ionic columns, 8.89 m high, on which were placed the gilded statues of Ptolemy and Arsinoe. The stone monument and parts of the Ionian columns are preserved from the impressive monument.
