Green Motion Car Rental Kefalonia Airport - Kefalonia Airport main road

Absolutely awful experience. We were given too old (>100000KM) and dirty cars, one of which had a non-functioning airco and the passenger door could not be opened from the inside (!!!), the service at the reception area was arrogant and we therefore promptly returned the cars and had to change to another rental company. To be avoided, at all cost!

When things go well you will be happy with anyone. But what you really want to know is "How will this company behave if things don't go to plan?" In the case of Green Motion - Awful, and dangerous! I am lucky enough to live in Kefalonia part of the year and have used a lot of local rental companies - Express Rent a Car for preference, but they aren't cheap. As an option on a deal with the airline I hired a car from these dangerous and unhelpful clowns last September - you know, when that once in a hundred years hurricane hit! Picture the scene: It's late, I arrive at Green Motion to find the customer service, hah, people are already surrounded with angry customers just off the same flight as me. Their lot is full of cars ready to go but none of them are going, why? You usually have to submit a Debit/Credit Card as part of the booking procedure for car rentals in Kefalonia. Debit cards more usual so that's what people usually bring... In this case lots of customers who had already paid on line were refused their cars because Green Motion insisted on Credit cards only! No warning, in 25 years I have never seen this requirement before. The advice: No Credit Card, no car. No other options will be accepted, go away! And that was it, a bunch of customers WHO HAD ALREADY PAID and had been given NO WARNING of this unusual stipulation were left on the street, in the dark, with everyone else either closed or closing - no, you can't have your money back, talk to the airline. It gets worse: Our flight arrived at the island just as a once in a lifetime hurricane was about to hit - look up some pictures if you want to know how much of a disaster that was. Most of us weren't aware of that but you can be absolutely sure the staff at Green Motion were - they live there! Being caught out in a hurricane is swift way to ensure your death, no joke, and that was the situation a good few of us found ourselves in! The only saving grace was my familiarity with the island so after a few calls we all trooped off in the dark in search of the few Car Rental places that might still be open - I ended up with "Euro Rentals Car & Van" who were both horrified by the situation and were helpfulness itself. It was from them I discovered a hurricane was on the way!!! I ended up with the owner's car as the influx of unexpected customers had depleted their stock - "I'm not leaving you without transport with a Hurricane on the way!" Most grateful I took his car, made my way to where I was staying, and hid for the next day while the hurricane raged overhead. It was so bad my very nice host told me after the fact he was worried the house might be washed away - rather exiting, but deadly if I had been caught out in it. So: Would you ever consider using this company for any purpose at all? No doubt you'll be fine if everything goes to plan, but what if it doesn't? I suspect you'll be swiftly out on your ear, out of luck, no matter how bad the situation. Do NOT, EVER, consider using this company! Epilogue: I should point out that not only is Kefalonia a wonderful, wonderful, island but the people are almost to a man, woman, and child, the most lovely people I have come across. The attitude and behaviour of the Green Motion staff is spectacularly unusual so don't let my unhappy take put you off this particular barrel just because of a few rotten apples. P.S. The silver lining, such as it was, is it turns out Euro Rentals are the ONLY hire company on Kefalonia I know of who will allow you to take one of their cars on a ferry, as long as you warn them in advance and pay the extra insurance. The regular Ferry between Argostoli and Lixouri is fine for foot passengers but if you want to take a trip to neighbouring Ithaca, highly recommended, you'd be crazy to go without transport unless you have a specific destination in mind and hire a taxi - walking up and down mountains in Greece in summer if you aren't used to it is no joke!

Against all the negative reviews I have seen here I actually had an amazing positive experience. The Staff(all of them), extremely professional, polite and nice. I got an entry level vehicle and it did very well, no regrets. Green Motion can't wait to see you again. Cheers!

Similar horrendous experience with Green Motion Rent a Car Kefalonia. Very unprofessional, rude and arrogant. Sadly, this is also proven by their replies to the reviews here! Defensive and impolite. Maybe some employee training would benefit the company. Similar experience this summer. (We we’re less than two hours late due to covid related extra controls at the airport, it was a busy airport and took longer to disembark the aircraft). By the time we arrived they had no car. They then said our credit card doesn’t work! We called the credit card company back home and they confirmed there was no issue). It was an unpleasant experience. We eventually gave up our booking and found another car on the spot, in a nearby company where we were treated with respect and professionalism. No issues whatsoever and our credit card worked perfectly well!!!

They were recommended by the villa that we rented and they didn't disappoint. Their office is just up the hill from the airport. Quick efficient service.

Booked a hire car with them, we arrived and they said they hadn’t received our arrival time (even though we gave them our flight number), so they had cancelled the booking and kept the deposit. Avoid at all costs

This is the worst car rental Company I have ever rent a car. Firstly, be careful as the cars they give you as "similar" have nothing to do with your request. Second, they charge you if you bring back the car not cleaned outside and inside!!! And they only inform you at the check in. Try to stay away from these guys, at the end of the day you will pay much more than trusting a well known Car Rental Company such as Hertz, Avis, Budget etc If you have a look into other reviews on the web, you will find many complaints about them. Do not make the same mistake I did not to trust these reviews before proceeding to the reservation

Overall not really happy. We were also victims of the ‘similar’ car and were given a really old one, that was also not a really good shape (>100000km and I think the hear box needed change since the r was never entering smooth enough). We also saw that most of the other rental companies on the island have provided their customers with much more ‘up-to-date’ cars compared to ours and the fees are not much higher/might be even cheaper! However, the stuff was kind although we had a little discussion about some minor damage on the paint of the car, that we’ve proven not to be ours!
