★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great stuff and nice breakfast. We stayed for 3 days and they didn’t clean the room even once. The room was too small for a couple also.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked this hotel on the website and got a confirmation. We arrived at the hotel and discovered overbooking. The hotel already knew for 10 days but took no more action than 1 email wich ended up in spam box. By arrival we've experienced unkind approach and no apologies for this real inconvenience we faced. The stress took away our holiday feeling for that day. We felt treated without decency.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very hospitable. Great location. Great room. Great view of harbor from upper floor. Our spoken Greek wasn't great, but everything worked out well. Would definitely stay here again.

We had made confirmed reservations at the Miranda Jan17. The day before our arrival I received this e-mail from the hotel:

Dear sirs
we make reservation to the apartment separate at the hotel because we have a problem with hot water and a/c . thank you, spetsioti popi
We later found out was not true. We arrived at the hotel and told that we were being given an apartment which was 3 blocks away. They said we could still walk down to breakfast each day and they would reduce our costs by $7E to $150E for 2 nights. BIG DEAL!! We were not given any help with our luggage and had to carry, not pull, 2-45# suitcases plus a backpack up about 200+ stairs and through steep streets by a lady to the apartment. My wife & I are both 69 years old. The temperature was very hot. The very small apartment was maybe a 2 star unit at most. We were both very upset. The next morning we walked to breakfast and met 4 other people who were also put in other accommodations blocks away and were equally upset as they had booked in April. They said that the Miranda overbooked. After a restless night and a morning tour, we went back to the hotel and asked a worker for our confirmed room. He called someone (know it was Popi), and very unfriendly, he handed us a key to a room. We then went the 3 blocks away and retrieved our luggage and moved. We were never offered to move to the hotel on this next day, even though the hotel had vacancies. While we were in the lobby, a man came in and asked how much a room was for the night—she told him $150E. That is when we confirmed they had vacancies. We had booked for 2 nights at a total cost of $157.50E. The locals told us that the island was unusually busy at that time because of the great weather. The hotel was canceling confirmed customers who had booked for a lesser cost and re-renting to walk-in/call-in customers at inflated prices to make more money. The room we finally received was very nice, but had a sewer smell. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. We were treated with disrespect and only nicely by Popi after we complained and moved in. This spoiled our entire time on Hydra Island. This was a total money making scam and very unethical.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice hotel but an extremely rude manager who mislead us that their apartment which we booked was right next to the hotel. In fact it was a ten minute walk up very steep, narrow and winding steps, high up in Hydra . They didn't have Wifi which they had assured us they did. We cancelled, which they were fine with and then a week later charged us for a three day stay. In twenty years of visiting Hydra this has been my only bad but sadly lasting memory. All other visits and hotels were excellent.Hydra as always remains a charm in spite of this experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We obtained information about Miranda Hotel from Rick Steve's guidebook and web site. Contacted the hotel via email, made a reservation several months in advance, and paid via PayPal for one night of 3 nights stay, and received confirmation for the reservation and for the pay. When we got there, the rooms were very different than what we had been promised, and the manager said it was a mistake and she would reduce the price. Interestingly, however, she did not even make a simple apology. We didn't have much choice but to take the rooms as we were already there. While we were there I noticed that the manager had a similar issue with another guest.
On the positive side, Hydra and two other places (Athens and Nafplio) that we visited are great places. We enjoyed other visit to Greece (other than this one incident) - it is a great place to visit. The prices are very reasonable, people are very friendly (except this one case), and the food is delicious. We hope to visit again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommend! The staff (especially Aldo I think) was so nice and friendly and gave great local tips. We got an upgrade to the rooftop. It's walking distance within many great places to eat and drink with varying prices. It's also a short walk from the port and one of the beaches that he helped us find. It was very clean too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice hotel in a very charming « captain house ».
Garden for breakfast very good and quiet
Easy to reach by foot from harbour ( straight street from harbour) 5 min by foot.
we have rent the room number 8. At ground level. Very spacy. BUT this bedroom is very noisy from the above room.
It was a late reservation on booking.com. So the last and the least.
Otherwise i do recommend.
