Αποτελείται από 1.500 οικογένειες από τις οποίες κάποιες προέρχονται από τον Πόντο, άλλες από τα Παράλια της Μ. Ασίας και άλλες από διάφορα μέρη της ευρύτερης περιοχής. Την ενορία μας επίσης απαρτίζει και ένας σεβαστός αριθμός αθίγγανων. Παρόλο την καταγωγή και τη διαφορετικότητα των ανθρώπων ευλαβούνται και σέβονται την ενορία τους σε κάθε κάλεσμα της με επίκεντρο τον τιμώμενο Άγιο προστάτη της, τον Άγιο Σπυρίδωνα. Η ενορία συγκροτήθηκε και λειτούργησε το 1960 σε ένα πρόχειρο παράπηγμα των οδών Ραιδεστού και Περίνθου. Ο θεμέλιος λίθος τοποθετήθηκε στις 12 Δεκεμβρίου 1978. Στις 30 Απριλίου του 1979 κατεδαφίστηκε το παράπηγμα και ξεκίνησαν οι εργασίες για την ανέγερση του ναού, όπου στις 18 Μαρτίου 1980 από τον τότε Μητροπολίτη Δημητριάδος και Αλμυρού κ.κ. Χριστόδουλου έχουμε τον θεμέλιο λίθο. Σε διάστημα 13 ετών και συγκεκριμένα το 1993 έχουμε τα εγκαίνια του ναού από τον ίδιο Μητροπολίτη, μετέπειτα Αρχιεπίσκοπο Αθηνών και Πάσης Ελλάδος. Το 1998 ολοκληρώθηκε ο αγιογραφικός κύκλος του ναού που είναι περικαλλής για τα δεδομένα της ευρύτερης περιοχής. Περιγραφή του ναού: Ο ιερός ναός είναι κτισμένος στον τύπο της τρίκλιτης σταυροειδής βασιλικής με τρούλο και γυναικωνίτη. Εξέχουσα θέση έχουν ο αγιογραφικός κύκλος, το τέμπλο, ο δεσποτικός θρόνος, ο άμβωνας, και τα καθίσματα φιλοτεχνημένα με παραδοσιακό τρόπο και χαρακτήρα. Κομμάτι του ιερού ναού αποτελεί και η εμβάδα του σκηνώματος του Αγίου που δόθηκε ως ευλογία στις 10 Μαΐου του 2006 από τον Μητροπολίτη Κερκύρας, Παξών και Διαποντίων Νήσων κ.κ. Νεκτάριον. Περαιτέρω κτίσματα εντός του ναού: Το αρχονταρίκι, το πνευματικό κέντρο-Σύναξη εντός του οποίου λειτουργούν το σπίτι Γαλήνης και οι αίθουσες κατηχητικής διδασκαλίας, ο χώρος οικιακής χρήσης καθώς και το γραφείο των ιερέων. The parish of Agios Spyridonos is located northwest of the municipality of Volos, part of N. Ionia. It consists of 1,500 families some of which come from the Pontus, others from the Asia Minor Coast and others from various parts of the wider area. There is also a respectable number of Gypsies in our parish. Despite the origin and diversity of the people, they are admired and respected in their parishes in every call, focusing on its venerable Saint Patron, Saint Spyridon. The parish was formed and operated in 1960 on a rough slope of Redestos and Perinthos streets. The foundation stone was laid on December 12, 1978. On April 30, 1979, the church was demolished and work began on the construction of the church, where on March 18, 1980, the then Metropolitan Dimitriados and Almyros and so on. Christodoulou we have the foundation stone. For 13 years and in 1993 we have the inauguration of the church by the same Metropolitan, later Archbishop of Athens and All Greece. In 1998 the hagiographic circle of the temple was completed, which is surrounded by data from the wider area. Description of the temple: The sacred temple is built in the form of a three-aisled cruciform basilica with a dome and a woman's bed. The hieroglyphic circle, the iconostasis, the despotic throne, the pulpit, and the seats are traditionally crafted. Part of the sacred temple is also the area of the saint's stage which was given as a blessing on May 10, 2006 by the Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxos and Intercontinental Islands. Nectarion. Further buildings inside the temple: The archontariki, the spiritual center-Synaxis in which the Galini house and the classrooms, the home and the office of the priests operate.
