Σύμφωνα με την Αρχαιολογία της Πόλης των Αθηνών, πρόκειται για ένα πολύ απλό εξωτερικά διώροφο κτίριο, που διέθετε 25 δωμάτια και αποτελεί το πρώτο οικοδόμημα που κατασκευάστηκε εξαρχής με σκοπό να χρησιμεύσει ως ξενοδοχείο στην Αθήνα. Σημειωτέον ότι στο πρόσφατο παρελθόν είχε πέσει στο τραπέζι και η αναβίωσή του ως ξενοδοχείο, χωρίς ωστόσο τελικά να ευοδωθεί ο σχετικός σχεδιασμός.
Το ξενοδοχείο «Αίολος» λοιπόν οικοδομήθηκε μεταξύ των ετών 1835-1837, βάσει σχεδίων του αρχιτέκτονα Σταμάτη Κλεάνθη (1802-1862) εκεί όπου βρισκόταν η Βιβλιοθήκη του Αδριανού που δημιουργήθηκε από τον Ρωμαίο αυτοκράτορα Αδριανό το 132 μ.Χ..

According to the Archeology of the City of Athens, this is a very simple exterior two-storey building, which had 25 rooms and is the first building built from the beginning to serve as a hotel in Athens. It should be noted that in the recent past, its revival as a hotel had also fallen on the table, without, however, the relevant planning finally succeeding.
The hotel "Aeolus" was built between the years 1835-1837, based on plans by the architect Stamatis Cleanthis (1802-1862) where the Library of Hadrian was located, created by the Roman emperor Hadrian in 132 AD.
