During ancient times the river was covered by a stoned tunnel to limit malaria and other diseases. The source of the river was located in Lycabettus hill. The area has been discovered during the metro station excavations. Worth a visit if you're in the area. It is inside Monastiraki metro station.

It's found at the platform with direction to Kifisia, particularly somewhere between the first and the second wagon. It can also be seen from the square of Monastiraki.
