A nice place to visit - be careful not to go off the temperature is very high (very few shadowy spots to catch a breath). You have to keep in mind that this castle used to have a little city within its walls so it is quite big and you have to walk quite a bit. Don't bring a stroller (better leave it in the car) as it is hell to push it over the medieval cobblestone ways or very dusty pathways... There is no toilet, so better use one outside, before you visit ?

One of the most important historical landmark in the region. Nice place to visit and a great scenery for memorable holiday photos. Some caution is needed when walking through the castle as it is easy to slip on the old stone pavements.

What an amazing piece of ancient history. Just a note that the entry fee can only be paid in cash, no cards excepted. Also, Remember to take your swimming gear, the beach is calm and great to swim in. Perfect for families

I absolutely forgot about the heat outside. It is a trip into history. The biggest fortres in Greece is wonderful. Entry fee is 3€ and it is worth every cent.

One of Greece's beautiful castles that was built by the Venetians after 1209 at a strategic location , on a rock penetrating the sea and is separated from the land by an artificial moat. Nowadays the fortress, although in ruins, is still impressive and worth a visit. Afterwards, time allowing, take a stroll by the sea and/or check out the beach and/or enjoy a beverage or a meal at one of the tow's cafes.

The castle is large with walls that are well preserved. There is not much left in the inside of the castle to see but there are two gems that are a must see. The first is the entrance to the castle which features an enormous moat once filled with seawater. The other is the small tower built on a rocky islet called the Bourtzi. Joined by a causeway to the main castle through the South Gate which is also well preserved. The castle is right next to the public beach that offers free parking.
