I was baffled by the magnitude of it all! The way the whole monastery is permeated by this unbelievably heavy blanket of faith and devotion is something I’d never experienced before. Everything is made with such attention to detail and such an immaculate craftsmanship that it’s impossible not to be touched. The nuns are very nice and are happy to give you the history behind what surrounds you.

Open access to an active monastery perched on the meteora rock formations. Classic Geek orthodox church.

Fantastic monastery with spectacular views. Fascinating to see this way of life.

Not my favorite place, but I'm also not the most religious. It's very pretty to see. The view is great and the monastery is very nice. Not to much to see though but I can see why religious people would like to see it. The bathrooms certainly need to be updated... It's 2021, people should not be using holes in the ground anymore

Beautifully maintained, every piece of stone a work of art. Hike the trail up from Kalambaka if you can. There’s a small museum too with some really intricate metal work, paintings, and old manuscripts. When you’re done buy some of the liqueur they make. ?

Another great example to see. Populated by some 30+ nuns which you can actually see in the area. The church is beautiful as well as are gardens around the monastery. Definitely stop for this one.

Our Favorite of the three monasteries we toured in Meteora: ● NO steps! The others required hundreds of steps to climb ● There are beautiful gardens and flowers ? ● The Nuns were all SO nice and welcoming. We didn't see a single monk at the other two we toured

The easiest monastery to access to, it is small enough to be visited in 20 minutes. A chapel, a courtyard and a tiny museum make it the whole open to the public parts. Entrance 3€, women need to cover their legs even if they wear pants.
