Αν σου αρέσει η πεζοπορία πάρε το μονοπάτι από τη χώρα αλλιώς πάει δρόμος μέχρι πάνω ! I had to visit the Monastery for many years I did this Easter this year !! If you like hiking take the path from the country otherwise go way up!

Es wurde 1721 unter dem Mönch Filaretos renoviert, wie es auf der Inschrift am Eingang erwähnt wird. Wichtig sind auch die Ikonen des Klosters aus dem 16., 17. und 18. Jahrhundert. Am Altar des Klosters befindet sich ein Wandgemälde zur Gründung des Klosters. Heute wird es, entgegen anderen Aussagen nicht von Nonnen, sondern von einem einzigen Mönch bewohnt und bewirtschaftet. Das benachbarte Kloster Varvara wird heute nicht mehr bewohnt und scheint dem Verfall preisgegeben. Ιδρύθηκε στα 1612 από τον Συμεών, ιερομόναχο και πρώτο ηγούμενο της. Στο πέρασμα των χρόνων λειτούργησε ως ανδρική και άλλοτε ως γυναικεία Μονή. Μετά την κοίμηση των τελευταίων γυναικών μοναχών, ένας Μοναχός, προσπαθεί με όλες του τις δυνάμεις να ξαναδώσει ζωή στο παλαιό αυτό μοναστήρι. Ο Μοναχός Θεοδόσιος, άνθρωπος με ποιότητα χαρακτήρα, καλές σπουδές και ικανός αγιογράφος, εκ των αποτελεσμάτων φαίνεται ότι αποτελεί τον λίθο για την αναγέννηση αυτού του αξιόλογου και παλαιού μοναστηριού. Έφτασε σε αυτό το σχεδόν ερημωμένο μοναστήρι περίπου πριν δυο χρόνια και με πολύ εργασία και μεράκι το ξαναζωντάνεψε. Αν ο Θεός και οι άνθρωποι βοηθήσουν, το μοναστήρι αυτό θα προσφέρει και πάλι πολλά καλά στον κόσμο και στην περιοχή. Holy Monastery of Timios Prodromos in Skopelos. He arrived at this almost deserted monastery about two years ago and with a lot of work and passion he revived it. If God and people help, this monastery will again offer a lot of good to the world and the region.

S	Simeon Goranov on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Follow the road to the monasteries; Prodromos monastery is about one km from the place where the asphalt ends and macadam starts. The place is reachable by car no problem but a walk might be a good idea as well if the weather allows it. This is a big monastery, probably the biggest on this side of mount Palouki. The peace and quiet, especially on a hot summer day, is amazing.
