★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bairaktaris is a group of 3 Greek restaurants. The one is located just by the syntagma square. The entrance is immediately after McDonald's and when you see it you cannot say it's a nice place. But it is! On the second floor there is a room with some tables, and a table with high chair right next to the window with a good view on the Ermou street. The white wine is cold and cheap, surprisingly the gyroses are 3-4 Euro as well.
Fast service and the hosts are friendly, very pleasant experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place is awesome!!!! Staff are great, and the food is excellent. We went back several times after being overcharged for basic Greek food in several restaurants in Plaka.
This restaurant is basic Greek, very fresh, delicious and reasonably priced.
There is this charming older gentleman who tries to get customers in. Say hi to him, and you won’t be disappointed with the food.
The name of the restaurant is confusing as on google is different, and Apple maps it’s different.
Ps. The portions are big and they offer half portions which is helpful ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I believe this was the first gyro I had in Greece. It was pork. In the USA, the Greek restaurants typically only have beef/lamb gyros; pork gyros are hard to find. Conversely, beef/lamb gyros are hard to find in Greece.
I was here at the end of March 2016. I ate gyros almost every day. Always pork. When I came back to the USA, whenever I went to a Greek restaurant, I'd ask about pork gyros.
I think we came back a few days later and sat inside, upstairs. Of course I had another gyro.
