B	Bernie “BLUES” Blues on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Schöne ruhige Anlage mit wiederaufgebauter Kirche und kleinen verfallenen Häusern, die einen Einblick in das ursprüngliche Alltagsleben auf Kreta geben. Die venezianische Villa war leider nicht zu besichtigen, sondern nur von außen nett anzuschauen. Auf der anderen Seite der Anlage findet man einen kleinen Friedhof. Das vorhandene Bistro war im Oktober schon geschlossen. Nice quiet complex with a rebuilt church and small dilapidated houses that give an insight into the original everyday life on Crete. Unfortunately, the Venetian villa could not be visited, but only nice to look at from the outside. On the other side of the complex there is a small cemetery. The existing bistro was already closed in October.

Die alte venezianische Siedlung wurde vor langem aufgegeben und verfällt vor sich hin. T	Torsten Uhr on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ein größerer Umweg, um sich das verlassene Dorf Etia anzuschauen, lohnt nicht. Unsere Fahrt von Makrigialos nach Xerokambos führte jedoch direkt an dem 1960 verlassenem Dorf vorbei und da sollte man auf alle Fälle einen Stopp für eine Besichtigung einlegen. Außer einer Handvoll venezianischer Ruinen gibt es noch zwei schmucke Kirchen und den imposanten Palazzo der venezianischen Adelsfamilie De Mezzo zu sehen. Erbaut wurde die Villa de Mezzo Ende des 15. Jahrhunderts, welche sich heute in einem umfassend sanierten Zustand befindet. Parken kann man direkt vor dem Palazzo oder am Restaurant. Dieses machte einen sehr einladenden Eindruck, aber so kurz nach dem Frühstück war noch nicht wieder an Essen zu denken. Der kurze Spaziergang durch den verlassenen Ort hat uns jedenfalls sehr gut gefallen. Zumal man das Dorf fast für sich alleine hat und die Ruhe, die über den Ruinen liegt, gut genießen kann. A longer detour to see the abandoned village of Etia is not worth it. Our drive from Makrigialos to Xerokambos, however, led directly past the village, which was abandoned in 1960, and there you should definitely make a stop for a visit. In addition to a handful of Venetian ruins, there are two more neat churches and the imposing palazzo of the Venetian aristocratic family De Mezzo. The Villa de Mezzo was built at the end of the 15th century and is now in a completely renovated condition. You can park right in front of the palazzo or at the restaurant. This made a very inviting impression, but soon after breakfast there was no thought of eating again. In any case, we really enjoyed the short walk through the deserted place. Especially since you have the village almost to yourself and can enjoy the tranquility that lies over the ruins.
