★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are in Athens during the summer months be sure to watch one of the performances in Odeon! Whatever performance it is, just watch it and believe me it will be a mind blowing experience. Previously I have only glimpsed of the Odeon from a visit to the Acropolis. Didn’t realize that performances actually still takes place there. Prices are super affordable and more than worth it!! I feel chills just sitting there… and feeling the history and significance of ancient mortals who have sat where I was.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ancient amphitheater still used for concerts to this day. On the acropolis slopes, entry to the acropolis means you can also view this attraction.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a magical place! Built at the base of the Acropolis, is one of the most appropriate places to experience a live classical theatre performance.
It’s an amphitheatre which was built in the Roman times; in about 161 A.D. by the Roman philosopher and politician Herodes Atticus.
I ve seen many wonderful performances in this breathtakingly awesome theatre!
It’s highly recommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The atmosphere is magical inside this ancient theatre and under the stars, I definitely recommend coming for a concert or an opera. I suggest you bring a bottle of water and a fan, because it can be pretty hot in the summer. Also keep in mind that the seats are uncomfortable (very narrow and without a back), as they are the original marble seats of the ancient theatre, so be patient.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great experience going there and using the Odeon as a filming location. Meant I could get right in there without all the tourists and tour guides.
Unique opportunity as well at night. Seeing it lit up by our production.
Awe inspiring being in the splendor of the building and the history of it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wish I got to see a performance there but sadly none was going on at the time I went. Still a sight to behold either from the back stage area or from the poor seats way up high. Stunning at night to walk around and explore the niches and nooks.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had the opportunity to watch a live performance of the great actor and comedian John Cleese here. It was simply quite breathtaking to be inside this Iconic Roman theatre.
So if you have the opportunity to go and watch a live show here instead of the tour then please do so.
