Π	ΠΑΝΑΓΙΩΤΗΣ ΜΑΣΤΑΚΟΥΡΗΣ on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Παρατημενη στη μοίρα της όπως φυσικά και ή περιοχή..Γεννήθηκα και ζω στην Ξηροκρηνη εδώ και 40 χρόνια , μόλις τον περασμένο χειμώνα έμαθα τυχαία για την ύπαρξη της παλαιοχριστιανικής ..... όταν πήγαμε με τον 10χρονο γιο μου να την επισκεφθουμε .. απογοήτευση ... βρίσκεται μέσα σε πυλωτη πολυκατοικίας δεν μπόρεσαμε να μπούμε λόγω ότι υπήρχαν στορια που ήταν κατεβασμενα...ας ελπίζουμε ότι ο νέος δήμαρχος θα κάνει κατι I was born and living in Xirokrini for 40 years, just last winter I learned accidentally about the existence of the early Christian ..... when we went with my 10 year old son to visit her .. disappointment ... it is located in a pigeon of a block of flats, we could not get in there because there were droppings that were down ... let's hope the new mayor will do something

Ο ναός πιθανον συνδέεται με τη μνήμη του αγίου Νέστορα ή των τριών αδελφών μαρτύρων της Θεσσαλονίκης (Αγάπης, Ειρήνης και Χιονίας), καθώς το μαρτύριο των τεσσάρων αγίων συνδέεται με την περιοχή. Early Christian church, in Basilica style, 6th century AD in Xirokrini (parts saved). The temple is probably associated with the memory of St. Nestor or the three Thessaloniki martyrs (Love, Peace and Snow), as the martyrdom of the four saints is associated with the area.
Ν	Νεκτάριος on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Η Παλαιοχριστιανική Βασιλική Ξηροκρήνης αποτελεί ναό του 6ου αιώνα μ.Χ. κατάλοιπα του οποίου εντοπίσθηκαν στη σημερινή συνοικία της Ξηροκρήνης (Θεσσαλονίκης) του Δήμου Θεσσαλονίκης.Στα Ρωμαϊκά χρόνια, στα όρια της περιοχής της σημερινής Ξηροκρήνης, πάνω από τη σύγχρονη πλατεία Δημοκρατίας (όπου και η «Χρυσή Πύλη» τότε), τοποθετείται το μαρτύριο του Αγίου Νέστορα, μαθητή του Αγίου Δημητρίου. Έτσι οι ναοί της πρωτοχριστιανικής και Βυζαντινής περιόδου που βρέθηκαν, συνδεόνται με το μαρτύριο και τη μνήμη του αγίου Νέστορα ή των τριών αδελφών μαρτύρων Αγάπης, Ειρήνης και Χιονίας που επίσης μαρτύρησαν στην περιοχή. Ο Ναός εντοπίσθηκε κατά την ανέγερση κτιρίου στην οδό Μαργαροπούλου 20, πίσω από τον Ν.Σιδηροδρομικό Σταθμό και πιθανώς να είναι κοιμητηριακού χαρακτήρα. τμήματά της είναι ορατα στο στο πάρκο της οδού Ρεγκούκου. Οι έτεροι δύο ναοί που έχουν βρεθεί στην περιοχή είναι ο αυτός του πρώτου μισού του 5ου αιώνα μ.Χ. στη συμβολή των οδών Λαγκαδά και Αγίου Δημητρίου και ο παλαιοχριστιανικός ναός που ανακαλύφθηκε κατά τις εργασίες κατασκευής του μετρό στην πλατεία Δημοκρατίας. Ο τελευταίος βρίσκεται στις παρυφές του Δυτικού αρχαίου νεκροταφείου λίγο έξω από την πλατεία Δημοκρατίας κτισμένος μάλιστα πάνω σε ένα συγκρότημα αποθηκών της ύστερης αρχαιότητας, καταδεικνύοντας και τον εμπορικό χαρακτήρα του τόπου. Συνολικά στη Θεσσαλονίκηέχουν βρεθεί πέντε κοιμητηριακοί ναοί. The Early Christian Royal Xirokrini is a temple of the 6th century AD. the remains of which were located in the present district of Xirokrini (Thessaloniki) of the Municipality of Thessaloniki.In Roman times, on the border of the area of today's Xirokrini, above the modern square of Democracy (where the "Golden Gate" at that time), is placed the martyrdom of Saint Nestor, a pupil of St. Demetrius. Thus, the churches of the Early Christian and Byzantine period found are associated with the martyrdom and memory of Saint Nestor or the three brothers of the Mercy, Peace and Chronicle who also martyred in the area. The Temple was located during the construction of a building on 20, Mararopoulou Street, behind the N. Railway Station and probably of a cemetery character. parts of it are visible in the Park of Reuguu Street. The other two temples found in the area are those of the first half of the 5th century AD. at the junction of Lagkada and Agios Dimitriou streets and the Early Christian temple discovered during the metro construction at Democracy Square. The latter is located on the outskirts of the Western Ancient Cemetery just outside the Republic Square, built on a warehouse complex of the late antiquity, demonstrating the commercial character of the place. Altogether in Thessaloniki there are five cemetery temples.
C	Carol A Schneier on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not much to be seen. Go to 20 Mararopoulous Street. A narrow passage next to a car park will take you through the building to a tiny park. Low stone walls are visible through the vegetation, alleged to be from Xirokrini Church, 6th C, possibly dedicated to St. Nestor, a companion of St Demetrius. Nestor was alleged to be martyred in Thesaloniki in 306 on orders of the Eastern Roman emperor after killing gladiator Lyaeus (a favorite of the emperor) in the arena. Xirokrini Church may have been a cemetary church, as it was outside the city walls at the time. No signage or interpretive information is available it the site.
