★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We've been there around 14:00. monstery was closed. there is no view on the island nor sea from the mountain top. no worth if you go on foot. it is possible to reach the top by car though

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is quite a climb of 20min by car, but very worrthwile. A magnificent view is found at a viewpoint very close to the Monastery (50m) staging the complete West and South of Corfu. The Monastery is almost a ruin, not occupied and closed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not much to see regarding the Monastery but the many views from the top of the hill are one of the most beautiful in Corfu, no wonder Iason and Medea are rumored to had a wedding on this mountain according to local legend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I wouldn't say go to see the monastery as such as you basically skim around it... However, the views are spectacular. Walking shoes/boots are a must. I gave myself a break that day and wore light trainers... Not a good idea for part of the trail...
Many picnic spots so take some lunch/snacks. The magnificent views will promote you into staying longer, so you may work up a hunger!!
Fantastic walk and if you are not staying in Agios Mattheos, you should stop into the village afterwards for a nice refreshment, maybe visit the local bakery.
Such a beguiling little village!
