Церковь находится в скале, в подножии крепости .Церковь действует и ее можно беспрепятственно посетить в любой день. С ее окрестностей открывается замечательный вид.Особенно красиво на закате. СОВЕТ: При посещении церквей, на Крите ,женщинам платок на голову одевать не надо , несмотря на то, что церковь православная и так принято повсеместно. Почти 300 лет православные христиане , на Крите , терпели гонения от мусульман, и когда закончилось время гнета, то женщины Крита дали обещание не носить платки на голове и сняли их. FORTEZZA- визитная карточка Rethymno, одно из самых интересных мест для посещения во время пребывания на Крите - если Вы любите историю. Вот и мы посетили её уже на второй день пребывания!). Изначально подъехали к небольшой церквушке, встроенной в западную стену крепости, это часовня святого Спиридона (Chapel of Agios Saint Spiridon Holy Chapel). Она расположена рядом с бесплатной парковкой, поэтому очень удобна для посещения. Запахи ладана и дыма от горящих свечей здесь смешались с запахом камней, из которых выложена крепостная стена. Умиротворение полное! Из церкви отрывается красивый вид на море. Можно поставить свечи, оставив за них немного денег. Очень ухоженное и красивое место. Там даже есть кондиционер, но его видимо включают только когда там есть служители. Were in Rethymno from 24.08.21-07.09.21. There is a beautiful sea view from the church. You can light candles, leaving some money for them. Very well maintained and beautiful place. There is even an air conditioner, but it seems to be turned on only when there are attendants there.

Seeing this, you understand people here are true believers. I can't imagine having those chapels in France, they'd be robbed, or destroyed. Thank you Crete people for offering us such beautiful places! ?

The roof and most of the walls are the rocks of a natural cave. Inside you can admire nice religious paintings. Outside you have endless views of the Cretan sea and the coast.
