★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a very good quiet,clean neat and tidy small hotel. A bit expensive at 82 Euro per double room, but the good breakfast makes up for it. Well situated in the old town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friendly staff. Has a quaint feel, but 4 star? Hairdryer attached to wall, dated shower curtains, bathroom flooded twice. No tea or coffee in rooms. No drinking water in rooms. I would reiterate that the staff were friendly, but.........

+ Clean, spacious room
+ Quiet, secluded yet small roof terrace
- Mediocre breakfast
- WiFi did not work in the room most of the time
- outside space was shared. given that we were at the ground floor, one window was opening to a shared space, another to street, so we had to keep the curtains closed all the time.
? There was a safe in the room but they were charging for the key per day. I have never seen such thing, but they said it's the norm in Greece.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a lovely ten night stay at Palazzo Vecchio and would recommend it to anyone looking for a friendly, small, perfectly located hotel for exploring the beautiful town of Rethymno and the rest of Crete. It was clean, comfortable (huge bed!) and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Five minutes walk from any number of bars and restaurants and a rocky stretch of beach within 50 metres for swimming and snorkelling. We loved it x

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A 4 star hotel with rooms look like staff quarter. On site parking available. Closed to the Fortress, and within walking distance to other main attractions and the main town. Friendly staff, but can be improved if staff can help with climbing the stairs with the luggages. Breakfast is good.

- kind staff
- location near the old fortress and old town
- fresh orange juice at breakfast
- comfortable bed
- kitchenette in room
Cons:
- 4 star hotel but amenities more like 3 stars
- dated furniture and dark rooms
- bathroom needs better maintenance
- pool very small, not suitable for swimming
- basic breakfast, filter coffee
- long walking distance to the beach
Stayed for 3 nights and it was okay, but for longer would feel too stuffy, price for the quality not justified
