Beautifully renovated house, that was a former olive oil producer. Very quiet, beds were good but we prefer a bit softer. Breakfast was nice with Esch day fresh orange juice, and local products. WiFi ok but could be a bit faster. Nice small town with plenty tavernes to go to for dinner.

This would be a one star review, if not for the offered cocktails for discomfort and the service of Maria with breakfast and check-out. Based on the reviews, online pictures and the price per night, this seemed to be a step up from other available accommodations in the area. So that's why we went with this place. We stayed from June, 14th till June, 15th 2019. There is lots of parking space, and we got a friendly welcome at the reception when we arrived on saturday afternoon. The old olive storage in the floor at the reception is a great reminder of the history this place has as an olive oil factory. When we entered our room, which was situated on a courtyard with a pond, it was *very* warm (35C+) and dark. It seemed they didn't check the room before we checked in? Not great after a long hot day in Ancient Sparta. Also, the furniture downstairs seemed quite old and uncomfortable. For the not so abled out there, mind the winding stairs, connecting the bedroom upstairs with the bathroom and living downstairs. The wifi was *very* slow (max ~1mbps downstream, ~0,2mbps upstream) , so we used my iphone hotspot instead, bc 4G was about 20 times faster. The forementioned pond in the courtyard harbours no life, except for mosquitos. It requires lots of fresh water, plants, fish, maintenance and love. Or else, get rid of it. It doesn't do any good to the place this way. Never mind, our hostess turned on the airco on the spot. At least, she tried, which failed according to the led, and then told us it is better to use a fan instead of the airco when sleeping anway (?). But they would fix it. A reset / refill (or something) should do the trick (she seems quite familiar with the issue?). Okay, could be, except that after an hour of unpacking our suitcases and showering, the airco still didnt work. When we asked about it, the hostess told us there was a problem with the central unit / heatpump, but there was a technician underway who would swap out some parts. No problem, they would fix the airco before nightfall. That didn't sit right with us, and we asked what it would cost us to check out. We already paid for the room, and used it, but this wasn't what we paid for, so a partial refund seemed reasonable enough. She didn't know, so we asked her to go to her supervisor. Instead, she assured us the problem would be fixed when we got back from dinner, and she offered us us some cocktails from the bar at the pool. Which was quite crowded btw and seemed to be used by all the local kids (?). As we were staying only one night, and it was late already, and the problem would be fixed definately, we chose not to relocate. So we had dinner in town, and kept our room. When we returned around 23:15h they were closing up, but the airco wasn't fixed still. Lucky for us the hostess was at the reception, in the process of leaving. She seemed a bit agitated when we confronted her. But she arranged a different room on the spot, which was more expensive according to her, but we would get it at our original price. Yay! This room had a working split unit in addition to the (defect) central airco. So this room was available all the time? Why didnt she offer it to us directly when the issue arose in the afternoon? And why didnt she inform us about the airco still not working on our return after dinner, but tried to leave instead? Questions. Next morning at breakfast, we seemed to be the only guests , along with two ladies who arrived at the same time the night before. Which made us wonder even more. We were offered breakfast with fresh orange juice from another hostess, Maria. She was wonderful and very helpful with everything. So thank you Maria. TL;DR: way too expensive for what it is. We think half price is reasonable for this accommodation when everything works fwiw. Misleading information from the hostess. Our worst hotel experience compared with 45+ other hotel visits. Locals -mostly kids- using the private pool. Wifi *very* slow. Avoid. Fot this price there are far better choices around.

Six stars. Very friendly service and a lovely room. They went out of their way to get us information about climbing Mount Taygetos, then prepared an early breakfast for our very early start for the mountain. Delicious breakfast with lots to choose from.

I was completely blown away by this place. It’s an architectural gem in the most adorable village that is a must to visit. You will not only be blown away by the building, room and yards with pool but also by the Greek hospitality. The host will go out of her way to ensure you have an unforgettable stay and will spoil you with the most delicious organic breakfast. I truly wish I could have moved in!
