★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Delicious home cooked food at very cheap prices. The owner is lovely and will recommend you the best dishes. The chicken souvlaki was perfectly cooked and the view over Lake Kournas is beautiful. We will definitely return if we visit Crete again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been to Crete now 3 times and this place is our go to as we are never disappointed. The lamb cooked on a Sunday is out of this world, the mousakka, the souvlaki . . . . . . Everything is great. The host who I am embarrassed to say I don’t know her name is lovely. Polite, humorous and helpful and we hope to see you again next year.
And the views of the lake are amazing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Google reviews don't lie - it's a top restaurant at Kournas lake for sure. The first great impression is the view, from top of the mountain to the lake. Very friendly waitresses (owners?), great food selection, the only issue is that the dishes are so huge that you have no capacity to try more of them! ;) Prices surprisingly low, you would not expect such a low bill for such an amazing meat selection in such marvelous view. It's a pity we've visited this place on the last day of our stay in Western Crete, as we would have be eating there more often for sure. Fully reccommended!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really amazing view to see the lake, big portion of food, cheap price, owner is friendly, she saw that I was a bit coughing by food chocking, before I asking for anything she had brought one glass of water! Really sweet move! ( btw owner prefer the cash payment ):-)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I mean…when you visit this place it automatically jumps into top 5 places you’ve been ever. Super nice owner, huge portions, delicious food, low prices. One might argue such places don’t exist - but believe me, they definitely do!
P.S. be prepared for a super sweet watermelon as a dessert (as a compliment from the Taverna)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ So amazing! We came here on Sunday which is fresh lamb on the spit day — sooo tasty and tender. Also some grilled aubergines and a salad as a starter and the day was perfect!
