Η ΒΕΓΓΕΡΑ (Zak's) - GREAT LOCAL FOOD AT AFFORDABLE PRICES! Zak's is a smallish Taverna with fantastic views over the fishing harbour and small man-made beach. The menu (although not extensive) boasts some of the best 'village food' I've tasted anywhere! You can start your night with fresh bread, small olives, tzatziki or Tyrokefteri (spicy cheeese) before deciding what you want later. Maria (Zak's mum) still works in the kitchen and produces tasty traditional hand-made Cretan specialities such as Dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), Keftedes (meat balls) & Hortopatakia (wild greens in filo pastry). As well as the usual Greek Salad you can catch main dishes such as Rabbit or Goat in Tomato Sauce, lovely Chicken or Pork in the Oven, Stifado (beef/onion stew), Moussaka (yummy) and Bekri Meze (pork, peppers etc.). Wine (half carafe) and water (large bottle) are very cheap and the Raki (local firewater) & fruit/cake to finish your meal is a must! All-in-all a great place to chill out in a stressless environment.

Such a nice restaurant! Great food, the Moussaka and Stifado are amazing. The restaurant itself is very cosy with many plants. The owner and his mother are very friendly! We will definitely go there again!

A great location overlooking the fishing harbour and well placed to watch the sunsets in the summer. A smaller taverna, and the menu is not as comprehensive as some others, but what you get is usually fresh and well cooked. The owner, Zak, will serve you, and mother is often in the kitchen helping out. Stress-free!
