Η Επιτροπή Ποιότητας Ζωής του δήμου Διδυμοτείχου ενέκρινε τον Αύγουστο 2021, στον ίδιο χώρο, την ανέγερση Μνημείου Θρακικού Ελληνισμού και συγκεκριμένα μνημείου «Τιμής και Μνήμης των προσφύγων της Ανατολικής Θράκης» που θα είναι δωρεά του Πολιτιστικού Συλλόγου Διδυμοτείχου και Περιφερείας που εδρεύει στην Αθήνα
