★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I am sure the castle and museum must be very interesting...when it is open. We met many others disappointed people who had also walked up to find it closed.
Currently undergoing a €3.8 million restoration which is fantastic.. but how long does it take for someone to update the website to say that it is closed?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Difficult to see as merges with the other buildings and barely distinguishable as a castle. But nice part of the old town where you can have a good look around the side streets and take in the winding paths.

You will find very beautiful buildings in it, several museums and very interesting exbitions with collections from the crusades era. The excellent archaiological museum also, is in the castle ! It will fascinate you and will take you back in time !

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Castro is the Venetian's built fortress above todays old town Naxos.
The three nave Cathedral sits on a small square, pretty simple in design, yet beautiful.
Altar is very nice but there're no frescoes on the walls. Pay attention on wealthy families inscriptions and coat of arms on the floor.
