A truly remarkable place run by volunteers who only ask that you contribute what you are able to in the collection box at the entrance which is also the exit. Cretans are rightly very proud of the part they played in holding up the German advance during WW2, some might even suggest it was pivotal and I do tend to agree. The displays are thought provoking and well laid out in the cool rock carved tunnels which provides a welcome coolness during the hot season. A definite must visit .

Very good and informing museum. It is made from multiple privat collection, found around the area. They don't charge, but you should leave some money, as its hard to run a museum like that without it.

Well we couldn't hate/like it because it was closed! It's a public holiday but Google maps told us it was open. So we walked up a very steep hill, which no one warned us about, to find it closed. Still, we found the tree in the road halfway up the hill so not a total loss! PS Going back tomorrow in a car so will review the review after! And so we went today. Its a WW2 bunker with tunnels and memorabilia. Worth the effort if you're into that subject matter.

Emotional experience with strong touch of history. Entry is €2,5 and you can only pay in cash.

Interesting place to visit. Originally, tunnels dug out by German army, then utilised by villagers after the Germans were evicted.

Really interesting, lovely hosts/employees , loads of photos, however not very big. Would recommend visiting to anyone who is interested in that period. Prices are not clear, so ask before you go or enter. On top of the museum/shelter there is a beautiful little chapel overlooking Chania, which I would recommend viewing, or at least ascend to see the view. Disclaimer: the shelter is situated up a hill, which might be a bit difficult for older visitors.
