Avance Rent a Car Paros port - Ethn. Antistasis 1ST floor

I have just dropped off our hire car and had a lovely experience. It was quick and easy to collect and drop off with very friendly staff. I was even given a map and some tips for the island. Very good value for money and CDW included. Nice and close to the port and I was able to collect at 7pm after my ferry arrived. I would recommend these guys!

Great thanks to Mr. Michalis Sotiri for his excellent service during our holiday in Paros. We rented a car in Paros via our hotel, he brought the car in a very clean and disinfected condition to our hotel. We had rented a Smart and this was delivered. We asked him if he could exchange the car for us in our third day since our luggages would not fit to the trunk of Smart. He did this without any extra charge although he did not have to do it. It was just a request from us which he did out of goodwill. After that we went to ferry to go to Santorini and forgot out laptop in the car. We realized it as we were already in the ferry. We called him and he told us he would check the quickest way possible to send our bag to Santorini. We had only 3 days in santorini and would be very bad to come back to Germany without our bag. He found the best possible way to send the bag to our hotel in Santorini and saved our lives. Excellent and very professional service of him for the all rental procedure and everything which he did for us. Would definitely recommend anyone who needs a rental car in Paros to contact them. ATTENTION...! BE AWARE CAUSE THEY WILL OVERCHARGE YOU FOR THINGS THAT DON'T HAVE DONE.. CAREFUL BEFORE YOU RENT!!!!

We rented a car with advance in naxos and this was the result of paying more than 600 euros for 5 days rental. The car we got it was very old and stopping the whole time. Yesterday, it just stopped and we couldnt put the gear on anymore. We had to call the car company. They came and basically push the clutch with the feet for 15 minutes and said we are good to go. Sorry they don't have a replacement car. This morning, the car was not working again and we had to do it ourselves with the stress that we had to catch the ferry. We managed to get to the port and we couldn't even stopped to put petrol cos the car it is not working properly. We told the car rental company that we want the money back for one day because we couldn't use it yesterday and this morning we hardly managed to get to the port. In response, he said that it is going to charge us 30 euros petrol because it was a line lower. Then my husband said no and he was going to punch him, he called other two guys and the three were running after him hitting him. We had a witness that it is not related with us. I attach the leg of my husband showing what they did to him. Luckyly we run fast.

Unfortunately we did not have the good experience with the others with this rental company. We do not recommend Avance Paros. They may send you a quote that looked like a bargain, but think twice before taking their cheap bait. As they may extort from you for wear and tear that you did not notice when you pick up the car, saying that you crushed/ damaged the car to try to get a bit more from you. (and they know that you were in a hurry to catch a ferry or what so you would pay for it to avoid troubles). To be fair, we had good experience when we pick up the car - on time, car very clean and very friendly professional staff delivering the car to us (14,000km) It was also cheap - just for €26 per day. We had not shopped around for prices but just took this offer when the quote came to us and it had good reviews. We thought it was due to the (still) low season. Then, this is the experience that gave this rating to avance: We arrived early at 0800 Sunday (agreed return time was 0815) so we parked the car outside a cafe under their office. We even met the young friendly staff in the cafe and had some friendly exchanges. Was a really good experience until the arrival of an older guy who looked like the boss, approached with his black van to our parked car, as he slowly came to halt his car, he pointed to the bumper of our rental car (even before he fully stopped his van) and said we crushed the car. We were caught by surprise as we just used the car to go back and forth our hotel and restaurants and around the island. He jumped out of his van looking rude and angry and said we must pay for the damages. Indeed, we did not (and neither their staff) checked that part of the car he said - the base of the bumper and there was a piece of black rubber hanging under it. He was telling us that the base of the bumper was scratched. We visit Greece every year and had been renting cars in various Greek islands for quite some years. We had rented many cars and had never faced such „argument“. We even had real accident before and we called the rental car company immediately. He first asked for €80, then €50, as we indicated that we were in a hurry to catch a ferry. In between he changed his versions of the „damages“ - sometimes he said we scratched the base of the bumper, sometimes he said the rubber protector under it was not straight. He even said that, if we would have told him that we had not seen the „damage“ when we pick up the car, he would not have charge us. what logic is that? Did he mean that he knew the car was already damaged and try to hold us „responsible“ for the wear and tear - because we were stupid enough to have trusted his staff and his company’s reputation and had not checked the car thorough enough (to check that damage we would have to knee down and feel the base of the bumper with pur fingers). The suspicious points are, if he really suspected that we had crushed the car as he said, why he was not interested in checking the other parts of the car to check for further, other possible damages? If the car was crushed, shall we resort to insurance payment instead of this petit €80/€50 negotiable payment? He approached our car as if he had known the „damages“ were there, did not even ask what had happened, put up a rude face right in the beginning. Sorry, for us this is an obvious scam. Renting out the car cheaply and try to extort small amounts to compensate. He eventually „released“ us without taking any extra money. This made his case even more suspicious. Indeed our first experience of such after so many years travelling around Greek islands and meeting many really friendly car rental people. I don’t think this is helpful for the business - we do not mind paying more to ensure we have a good travel experience throughout and avoid such dishonest business. I personally believe honest, good quality services are good for long run and the reputation of Paros. Unfortunately we don‘t get this from Avance.

We had a horrible experience with this rental agency. They tried to charge us for ‘scratches’ on the roof when we had driven the car twice for a total of one hour (and never came close to making any damage to the car). Once we threatened to dispute the charge since they were clearly scamming us, they “found” footage that the scratches were there before renting to us. Think twice before renting from this company, and if you do, take plenty of pictures!

Positive experience, would recommend. Situated right next to the ferry, quick and friendly service. The price was competitive and the car (fiat panda) was brand new. We unfortunately scratched the car and were given a fair cost to fix it, with no hidden extras. Reliable and trustworthy company. Thank you Avance Paros - see you again!
