AVLI LOUNGE APARTMENTS - Xanthoudidou 22

Our honeymoon stay at the Avli was nothing short of phenomenal! The apartment was absolutely gorgeous with all of the accouterments of an expensive, premium hotel at a very affordable price including complimentary Raki in our suite. If that wasn't enough we were greeted with complimentary drinks and a small bite to eat after we arrived as our bags were taken to our room. We enjoyed complimentary breakfasts during our stay at the Avli's beautiful restaurant where we enjoyed a stunning outdoor open-air garden and absolutely delicious selections from their locally-sourced gourmet menu. They also operate another casual tapas style restaurant Bar Raki around the corner, where we enjoyed some great mid-day snacks and beers during our stay. The staff was super attentive and friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay a stellar one. I must mention Constantinos, the all-too-kind, smiling, manager, who was a real life saver! After our stay, we planned to leave Rethymnon for our next destination Chora Sfakion, only to find our rental car would not start! We called the rental company, and unfortunately neither I nor my new wife spoke fluent Greek, which led to a breakdown in getting our issue resolved. Our dilemma was compounded by the fact that it was a Sunday and many businesses do not operate, or are understaffed on that day due many people observing Christian-Orthodox tradition. I'm Ukrainian Orthodox, so while I understood, it still didn't help our situation. We explained our dilemma to Constantinos, and he immediately sprang into action calling both the local rental company and the corporate office! After being transferred several times and really working hard to resolve the situation for us he told us a workman would be out shortly to service the vehicle. A serviceman was out within the hour, but unfortunately could not fix our vehicle, and had it towed to a local shop. We then were in touch with the rental company again, and again were told we might be stranded for a day due to it being Sunday! Enter again, our savior, Constantinos! He again got on the phone and worked his magic, asked our contact number, said he'd handle it, and told us to go grab a drink and relax. Within an hour we had a replacement car delivered and got to enjoy a little more of the beautiful Rethymnon old town! We thanked him profusely, and asked if they're was anything we could do thank him, his reply was simply , "This is what we do, above and beyond hospitality." He wished us many more happy years together and safe travels and we took our leave. I highly recommend the Avli for it's ambiance, pristine rooms and beautifully furnished accommodations, great cuisine, and above all stellar staff and friendly service that makes you feel like family! If you spend anytime in Rethymnon and need a place to stay, especially for a romantic getaway, this should be your # 1 pick for accommodations, I know it will DEFINITELY be ours!

Wonderful apartment. We spent one night in the executive suite. I've never seen such a luxuous and large room. The location in the center of Rethymno is perfect. On the roof, a jacuzzi with a sight of all Rethymno. Really amazing, above all at night! And what to say about the crazy breakfast??? Highly recommended to be sure to spend a really unforgettable stay!

Upon arrival they gave us a plate of vegetables and olives and two glasses of wine. What a good start! This hotel is located in renovated historic buildings dating back to 1603. The history and charm seeps through the walls. It is quiet and cool because of the stone, and is truly like few other hotels. Spacious too! The biggest room we had our whole trip. The jacuzzi tub was lovely, despite quite old. It was chipping a bit and took a very long time to fill up (we even went out and got kebab, came home and it still wasn't done!) however for this price and charm its really a compromise we're happy to make, especially knowing how covid has probably devistated things. Service was excellent. The concierge was there for everything we needed, even book recommendations and reviews! We enjoyed some breakfast together after I took a book he was interested in. Felt like friends. Room service from avli was also incredible. Made our dinner there the next night even better because we knew it would be so good! Breakfast was stellar too. A bread basket with traditional honeys, jams and goat butter, eggs perfectly done in traditional styles, and delicious coffee. Really one of my favorite hotels I've ever stayed at.

We stayed in the “cookie” suite of the Avli apartments which was a beautiful and charming room in this 15th century Venetian building. Our reception was more than welcoming, with a nice cool drink and snack in the gorgeous courtyard of their restaurant while they checked us in and brought our bags up for us. Location is excellent with lots of restaurants (although I highly recommend Avli for dining) and shops right at your doorstep. Paid parking (discounted when staying at Avli) is a 2 minute walk away. We only stayed one night, wish it could have been longer.

Such an amazing Boutique hotel! Each room is unique and has its own character. Extremely polite and professional staff, always prepared to assist you.

Great restaurant in a court yard garden feel very romantic. The staff was really nice. We chose à la carte but they have a delicious tasting menu.

We have stayed here many times, the staff are delightful and the surroundings and rooms beautiful. It’s always a pleasure to stay here the breakfast is superb and the restaurant amazing too in the beautiful garden. We are so looking forward to staying again whilst in Crete in July

Absolutely beautiful hotel and restaurant. I’ve never stayed anywhere like it. They even upgraded our room because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The service was amazing and so were the accommodations. I would recommend this place to everyone!!!!
