Best Art museum in Greece

N	Nelson Ferreira - Aulas de Arte - Pintura e Desenho on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very interesting museum, I like the paintings of some contemporary Greek artists such as George Rorris (which I knew) and Savas Georgiadis (just discovered him). Shame that the architects didn't respect the art deco style of the building, having dwarfed the ceiling height with a wrong design that destroyed what was there, most probably remains of ornate stucco ceilings - unfortunately this abuse is frequent in Athens.

J	Joanna Heart on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ For 7 euros for an entrance fee in times of crisis, I expect at least a smile from the man in the ticket booth who put me on hold without even eye contact. I expect my order at the cafe to be just what I ordered and not something similar and my bill to be the exact amount and not one made by mistake. If I didn't notice, you'd charge me extra. So naturally I demand an apology and not an evasive excuse from the waitress. Manners are caught not taught, I guess. I expect the personnel to be quiet in the exhibition rooms and not stay behind doors and giggle and shout while I'm looking at the paintings. Simple as that. I expect the man at the entrance of the exhibition to remember me and not ask for my ticket in a highbrow style only 10 min. after I entered because he left his post and simply forgot my face. I wouldn't try to cheat by entering for free, would I? Well, on the whole the building was beautiful and the exhibition small and interesting but the personnel let me down. I guess they are underpaid like all the workers in Greece so I can't really blame them. I wish myself better luck next time....

Most of the items are not marked and when I did inquire about purchasing an item, I was told it was 12 euros. When I went to pay for it, it suddenly jumped up to 16 euros. Their Visa machine did not work again and the attendant really didn't care about doing her job. Worst of all was the feeling I had that I was being taken for the extra 4 euros. The bitter taste that leaves in someones mouth is unacceptable. As a private museum dealing with mainly tourists I believe they need to step up and consider being much more transparent and professional.
C	Christina Matsaki on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A small gem of a museum with very interesting exhibits, lovely cafe and shop. Their musical events are also very good, so book if you can find a spot. Well located, so can combine a visit with the nearby Benaki or Cycladic art museum.

M	Mike Bravos on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Theocharakis Foundation is an excellent place to visit if you are an art aficionado, exhibitions vary depending the season. It is located across the Greek Parliament, if you are on foot, it's easy to visit. If you want to visit by car, it's a bit hard to find a parking spot, your best best would be to park your car in a parking garage. I have visited quite a few times, but the last exhibition was for the Greek painter, Konstantinos Volanakis. The only negative about the exhibition center is the staff, they don't give any attention to you, they seem super bored and they don't even talk to you back. They just sit behind the desk chatting to each other and they don't care who is coming in or not. I would easily go in for free, if I wanted to since they don't pay attention. The guards looking after the exhibition area, even they are following you around to the point it becomes annoying and rude, or they are on their phones in some corner, or none is there at all. My rating is for the center alone and what it offers to the public, sharing knowledge to the people. If I had to rate the staff too, it would be at least 2-3 stars down.
E	Eleny Mama on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful museum, a place to meet and discuss about art. There are plenty of events going on year round. As I walked in, I got the sense of visiting familiar surroundings. I felt the warmth and welcome of this foundation. I’m going back on Tuesday.
