On ne peut venir en crête sans traverser ces gorges.....unique Vestige of a small church at the start or finish of the magnificent Samaria Gorge. You can not come on a ridge without crossing these gorges ..... unique

Vrele doporučuji i když je tu větší koncentrace turistů. Beautiful town, which is accessible only by ferry or descent in continental Samaria. Admission to the contest 5 €, but worth it. I highly recommend even though there is a greater concentration of tourists.

R	Rock Cyprus on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A beautiful Byzantine Church dedicated to Panagia (Holy Mother), located north-east of the Agia Roumeli port. According to the resources, it has been built on the site of an ancient temple of Apollo and Artemis. What is certain though is that there was an older, much larger orthodox basilica on this site, because we can see the remains of it. The Church is well-known for its beautiful mosaics, although it is difficult to see them because the Church is rarely open (it was closed all 3 times I've been there, and the villagers told me that the keys are held by the priest). However, part of the mosaics are accessible, as they are located in the open outside the Church (have a look at my photo stream below to get a glimpse of them). Well worth a visit anyway, it offers beautiful views to the sea, plus a nice fresh breeze is usually blowing in the afternoon, making your wait for the ferry back to Sfakia or Sougia much more enjoyable! :)
