★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A thrilling walk from Loutros to Annapolis and back. Start before sunrise and enjoy breakfast at the town square. I forgot my wallet but could pay to a relative down in Loutros.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Exhilarating walk up from Loutro with spectacular views. It is little steep at times and while the path is good, there are a lot of loose stones so shoes or trainers are needed. A decent level of fitness is required. If walking in summer an early start is necessary (e.g. 6 a.m.) - breakfast in Anapolis, followed by the descent and a swim in the harbour makes for a great morning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is possible to reach this starting point by car (via Kampia) but the road is quite bad. Another option is to leave the car near Aghia Ekaterini church in Anapoli and start from there, which will probably add 15-20 minutes to the below trek time. The path is steep and quite rough, one needs serious mountain shoes or sandals. Trekking poles are very useful. The descent is about 75 min, the ascent about 80-90. The views are great but one has to be in good shape, especially if one has to climb back. For those seeking a more relaxed trek to Loutro they should take the hinking trail part of the E4, starting close to Hora Sfakion, a rather horizontal route compared to this one. I give this four stars instead of 5 because the drive to this point and especially the drive back from it was challenging.
