A great hotel with a great staff. Clean and beautiful room with a nice balcony and a beautiful view. Great location (near Chora) and tastyful breakfast. Totally recommended!

We risked by booking our stay at Pylaia last minute through Expedia with our flights and without any previous research. Having spent 5 great days at Astypalaia we are extremely happy to have found that Pylaia ticked all the boxes. Great service from the moment we called to confirm our reservation and were greeted by a helpful and charming lady until we were dropped off at the airport for our departure by the most gentle shuttle bus driver. The hotel location is an ideal walking distance from chora, quiet enough and with a great view of the bay and the castle (from the restaurant area). Our room was very clean and spacious with a bathroom the size of our bedroom! The breakfast was generous and fresh with a lot of options prepared on the spot. Great!

Our stay in this hotel was very disappointing. I had really high expectations given the really good reviews that the hotel had on the internet. We stay in the hotel at the end of the summer season. We arrive there prior or check-in time but went to the hotel to leave our bags, unfortunately we were barely greeted by the reception person, ignored for a full half an hour and then our backs were left unattended for a long period or time. We try to forget about this incident but unfortunately it was the start of many disappointments. Our room looked not as expected. We had the suite with the indoor small pool which was far from what it was showed in the website. It was old, pealed and dirty. The room was so hot and they only had a very small air conditioner unit, that was difinetely not appropriate for the room. Night were cool, so I tried to leave the windows open, big mistake! My room was full of bugs. The details in the room and construction are horrible. I feel like the management in the hotel was stretch very thin since we noticed that the same person in the reception, was the same person making coffees, cleaning the pool, answering emails and doing many of the hotels tasks. Due to lack of personnel during this time I felt that the high standards that this hotel wants to have we're not met. There was a lot of miscommunication that unfortunately only effected our time in Pylaia. Don't get me wrong the property is beautiful and with a lot of potential. Unfortunately, you cannot call yourself luxury or boutique when there are other hotels in the island that cost way less an are treating their customers with high standards and keep their properties in better shape. Good things about the hotel- I found that the beds were very comfortable. The breakfast buffet what's nice and it had variety, plus the view in the terrace was very nice. Also some of the recommendations from the staff we're very good. I think pilaya has potential to be way better, but they need to maintain the property better especially the rooms. They need to hire more people and they need to learn how to be more caring and attentive. Would I recommend this hotel ? I wouldn't! Again, there are so many other properties in the island that have exeptional care and love for their business.

Gorgeous views and the kindest hotel staff we’ve ever met. From the first greeting at the airport, Constantine, Marietta and their plentiful staff were thoughtful, attentive, and helpful for the duration of our stay. The food was delicious and the free breakfast was a full feast we could not finish. The hotel dining room is an indoor/outdoor space with the most incredible views on the island - and is designed for relaxation. Our bags were carried to our room, the pool was pristinely cleaned, and the shaded beds next to the pool were the perfect place to relax. The air conditioner in the room worked well and came on automatically when we shut the doors - such a nice touch! Room is stocked with espresso, cable TV, shampoo, and all the essentials. We would go back tomorrow!
