Going up from the main square a small cobbled path 300 meters away you meet an imposing temple built on the edge of the rock with a unique view and quiet. Definitely worth a visit and worship, The view and the atmosphere of 250 years compensate you.

The Church of St. Mary Magdalene belongs to the Koukourava district of Makrinitsa. The Temple is of Royal Rhythm, three-aisled with a dome. In the past, this church was honored in the name of Agios Georgios. Because in the upper district of Koukourava there was already a Church of St. George, which celebrates April 23, so the villagers decided to change the date of the festival to July 22, the feast day of St. Magdalene. As mentioned in the diary of the monk Zosimas Esfigmenitos year 1887 volume 2nd. To honor the Saint who was celebrating that day, they brought the image of Saint Magdalene. When the Liturgy ended the next day and they wanted to take the picture again, it had become immovable and they could not move it. This was considered a miracle by the villagers and they honored the church with the name of St. Mary Magdalene. The inauguration of the Temple is based on the chronology that exists under the Holy Table in 1737. We do not know the exact date of the construction, unfortunately with the earthquakes of 1950 we had a fall of the Temple and destruction of the archives.
