I returned the car in perfect conditions 5 days ago and the 800 euros they kept as a deposit have not been returned to my bank account yet. It is a lot of money and should have been solved yet

We booked and rented a car through Sixt in Greece for the island of Santorini in Fira. Once we finished the booking process, choosing the maximum insurance coverage and a baby seat, we proceeded to the payment in advance. So far so good. Now the problems start: 1. We did not receive a confirmation email. Luckily I had made a print screen with the reservation number. 2. After 6 hours and still no confirmation, I try to contact the Sixt office in Santorini Fira. Nobody answers the phone. Fortunately, I finally receive the email from Sixt. I am reassured and we wait for the next day to pick up the car. 3. At 10 o'clock in the morning, as booked, we went to the office. It was closed. There was an emergency number that I called and it corresponds to the office at the airport. I asked them if there was a problem and they told me that they had no reservation in my name or with the confirmation number I gave them, but they would call me back in 5 minutes. They did. But they still can't find the reservation, but they will help me and someone will come in 15 minutes with the car. I have to tell them again which category I had booked and that I need a baby seat. 4. After 1 hour and not 15 minutes an agent comes with an old Peugeot 208. We start the paperwork. He asks me if I want to upgrade the insurance and I explain that I had already booked the maximum. He says no, that I have an excess of 800€ and that I have to prove otherwise. Luckily I was able to do so. Now they wanted to charge me a deposit of 300€ which I refused after seeing all the problems. The manager told me that it was company policy and that they had given me a car superior to the one I had booked. To this I replied that he should not lie, that the category was the one booked and the car they gave me was old. Then when I received it, it was dirty inside. 5. They offered me to cancel the reservation, but they could not reimburse me until a couple of days later. So I didn't want to cancel, otherwise I would have left immediately.

We rented a CDMR category car for 5 days. During the second day of our journey in central Greece, a check engine warning light turned on; nevertheless the car was operating just fine. We immediately contacted the company and within a few hours they brought us a replacement car for precautionary reasons, even though we were around 300 km away and even though that particular day was a Greek public holiday! Polite, friendly and very helpful staff in the Syngrou Avenue office, I would definitely rent a car from these guys again!

You can park directly in front of office for check in, everything went well and fast.

Great experience overall. We rented an Opel Corsa for two days in the Athens office. The people in the office were super nice and quite fast. We had to make a 100 euro deposit and received it back within two days. Honestly, the best experience that I have had renting a car.

Great Service, we stayed one week in Athens and wanted to do a day trip away from the city. The lady at the desk immediately recommended us Nafplio, a very nice harbour city. We rented a very cheap car and had a wonderful day. Would always recommend again! Thanks for the good service. Just beware that parking at night that close to Acropolis is a nightmare so we used a relatively cheap parking garage just around the corner very near to Acropolis. We paid like 14€ to park overnight.

I had positive experience with Sixt in Athens until this May 2022. I had rented a car for 5 months on a month to month lease - and was asked by the reservations department to return it at the end of May to receive another car for a new price that the reservation desk had provided (slightly higher than the off season price). They said the new car would be ready in a few days. This was 3 weeks ago. Despite following up by email and phone calls over several weeks, I have been informed that "my car" is still not ready. When probed I discovered that the car they want to give me has been in an accident and is still being repaired. Worried about driving such a damaged vehicle and given it was not ready, I asked for another vehicle to be released but was told the price for another economy car would be almost triple the price of the original quote I was provided for June. I understand it is high season & that the company wants to generate profits, but I find this policy of getting the run around, mixed messaging, fluctuating prices completely unprofessional. If you want any kind of long term rental suggest going elsewhere as they reward profit over customer satisfaction and loyalty. The desk and office staff at Sixt are wonderful, but the reservations management department should review it's policies and try to ensure consistent messaging and respect to customers.
