The Downtown Pent - Vernardou Street

I was so lucky to be the first guest and I felt at home right away! I had the warmest welcome and was spoiled by the owner with fresh oranges and treats. Highly recommend!

The breathtaking 360° roof terrace view gives you a rare glimpse of the town. The pent is spotless, welcoming in every way, cosy and superbly situated. If you are lucky enough to find it available, just go for it!

Very beautiful place, city centre!

The Downton pent is an amazing place! The view from the roof is like no other. It is a home away from home, with a wonderful hostess who will not only welcome you graciously but help you in any way that is possible. My favorite place in Crete!

The apartment is very nicely decorated, warm and the atmosphere very pleasant. It is located in the center of everything where you can find all the shops and services. The apt was immaculate clean. The rooftop terrace was perfect for sunbathing during mornings, dining with the castle view during evening and star gazing during nights. There is fast internet and all the necessary appliances, is very hot and welcoming. My bedroom had all the comforts, a new quilt, clean sheets and a new orthopedic mattress. Our host took care of us in the best way and was very polite and warm. Excellent hospitality in every way. We strongly recommend that pent. Thanks for all.

Fortunately, it was much more better than I could imagine. The area in the old town is fabulous with friendly and helpful locals around. The apartment is amazing, very well organized and very clean. The hostess is friendly and willing to make your holidays a dream. If I visit Crete again, I will definitely use this apartment for my stay.

TL;DR version: Book. This. Stay! If you’re planning to visit Crete, you HAVE to check out Rethymno Old Town, and you HAVE to stay at The Downtown Pent. I booked through Airbnb, but just message Christina, and she’ll help you. She’s super responsive, nice, and helpful. She also knows a lot about the area and its history, so she can give you all sorts of recommendations about things to do, where to eat, how to get to/from the airport, etc. And her place is absolutely breathtaking! Seriously, the photos don’t do the apartment justice. It is so clean and well decorated—and well stocked with everything you need for your stay—and the location is perfect. There are amazing restaurants literally steps from the front door. And the three balconies/patios!!! The main balcony overlooks the street outside, and it’s great for people watching and listening to the street sounds and local music. There’s another balcony outside the master bedroom, which is smaller but good for catching some fresh air before bed. But the best feature is the rooftop! It’s soooooo gorgeous and the view is amazing! There are lounge chairs for sunbathing, umbrellas, a gazebo—and a rope-swing chair! You’ll want to allocate enough time to just relax up there and catch a sunset or sunrise, for sure. Whenever I book an Airbnb or something similar, I always have concerns about the authenticity of reviews, but let me assure you, I’m 100% not paid—I even volunteered to promote Christina’s business on platforms outside Airbnb because it was that wonderful! Seriously, THIS is the place to stay in Rethymno! And stay for more than one night, because you’ll regret it if you don’t!!!
