The Village Resort & Waterpark - Charakostres Area

Everything was excellent besides the steep hill to get to room but food was great entertainment was okay and service brilliant will be coming back

My family have stayed here 3 times over the past few years and cannot say enough good about this resort. My children loved the waterpark, football pitch and children's snack bar especially! and the food is great but I would suggest hitting the restaurant early so to miss the queues. The bar serves inclusive drinks till 11pm and highly recommend once the sun has disappeared for the day grabbing a couple of drinks and having a chill by the pool. There is a real feeling of safety and family here which makes your stay much more relaxing. The staff are great although you will find your favorites, bar and waterpark staff are especially good. It is a long walk into town but it's not too far but then you could always use the free shuttle bus down to starbeach to get most of the way there. Next to star beach is a horse riding excursion which is fantastic especially the evening ride into the hills option, ask for gregory hes a star! To sum up crete is amazing and you couldn't find a better family orientated hotel as a base for your adventures.

Never seen such chaos ? However this is not the fault of the hotel.

It's really hard to say, but I'm very disapointed. Pros at first: Hotel is really beautiful outside (garden, valleys, really Greek vibe - but be careful if you have some problem with walking - the hotel is located on hills). Staff is very polite, helpful, smiles all the time. Rooms are cleaned daily. But... There was a lot of humidity in our room - clean clothes in suitcases vere slightly wet all the time (maybe it was due to our room was on the ground floor, I don't know - but still have never ecountered that in Greece anywhere else). Knob in the bathroom doors was broken, so you couldn't close the door while using. Terrible matterrace in bed - my neck and back were constantly hurt. But I would be willing to turn a blind eye to it (We weren't spent much time in the room) if... not the food and drinks. I don't know why there are those positive comments - breakfast and lunch - everyday the same food. Dinners were better (thematic) but still - not what I expected - even Greek specialities were average at best. But I have to say that shrimps were good, but mainly because of freshness, not the way of preparing. And worst of the worst - I get the food poison the last day after the lunch. If you want a good mediterrenian food - not here for sure. Drinks had chemical aftertaste, juices were from concetrate (machine) only in all in option. To sum up - I love the people and outside view, but I can't recommend. I can't believe that this hotel is 4 stars rated. I was in 3 stars with better food and accommodation.

Rooms are spacious and clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful, will go out of their way to be accommodating. Food is great, with an excellent variety of choice to suit all tastes. We had great views from our room. The only negative is it extremely hilly and for more elderly people the climb to the rooms up steep hills can be a challenge. However, you only have to ask and they arrange for a member of staff to pick you up in a golf style buggy, from anywhere on the complex and will drop you off wherever you need to get to on site.

Just had a week staying at the Village Resort and it has been lovely. The resort is perfectly kept and laid out in such a nice village style. We stayed about half way up the hill and had a lovely view of the sea. It’s worth asking for a top floor room as the view is a lot better. The room are in blocks with 3 floors. We spent most of our days at the relax pool which was so nice. There are 3 other area to choose from so something for everyone. The staff are so friendly and efficient. The only thing I would improve would be the food. There were some nice meals but nothing to rave about so we eat out for a couple of meals to get something a bit better.
