Waited for an hour in line - they have a shared desk with hertz and need more staff. Would expect this from a budget car hire company, not from Thrifty

Unfriendly and inflexible customer Service offered. Much better options at Athens airport.

Easy to find, next to the exit doors, in the arrival floor. I guess it's an Hertz's low cost company, they use the same office and cars.

Renting from Thrifty (under a larger Hertz car umbrella) was the best decision we made when visiting Greece. We were helped by Kelly and she was a dream even though we were 5 hours late to pick up our car (travel issues). We highly recommend this place and to rent a car while touring Greece !

The BIGGEST ripoff!!! We used them to rent a car for 19 days and paid a small fortune because we wanted automatic transmission. The men (I cannot call them agents, because they acted like they were a bunch of men just hanging out there) were insulting. I had to walk back to the airport to clarify that I was given the correct car. I was told I would have a Mercedes, and instead, I was given a small "Smart Car" which apparently was made by Mercedes, but it was not what I envisioned when I booked it. The car may have been considered economical because it was a "Smart" car, but we paid an exorbitant amount in gas (petrol) because it didn't take diesel fuel. The car we rented the year before, though bigger, was far more economical because it ran on diesel. Almost at the end of our trip, the car's battery died. It was on a Sunday, and their main office was not open. We called around and we were ignored, and I was told that I must have left the lights on and it was my own fault the battery died. We were told to find a police officer to give us a jump. When we tried to find a mechanic, we were told that only electricians can jump a car battery in Greece. We went through hell to get the car started. We wasted an entire day waiting for someone to help us. Finally a local taxi driver/electrician jumped us for 25 Euros. We had to change our travel plans and spend an extra night in the next large town (Sparta) and missed seeing relatives in Athens. By the time we made it back to the airport, there was barely enough time to stop for gas, so the tank was half full. The same rude men told me it was not their responsibility to reimburse us for the jump, so I asked if returning the car half-full made up for the inconvenience, but he said, "No." That was our own fault that the car battery died, but I could pay more than 4 Euros per liter to fill it up. I had to rush like mad to find a nearby gas station to fill it for a fraction of the cost and return it again. I worried about what we would do the next time we went to Greece because I (stupidly) thought it was the only place to rent a car from near the airport, and I didn't want to "insult" this horrible company in case I had to use them again. But NO...... I am SO HAPPY that I just discovered a better car rental company that is off site but has a free shuttle bus. It has a ton of 5 star reviews. I just checked their prices, and they are FAR MORE REASONABLE than Thrifty's at the Athens Airport. Good bye, and good riddance!!!!!

In May 2019 I rented a car from Alamo, Athens, GR airport. It was the best (lowest) price for an automatic car, and their office is located right in the terminal. There was a long waiting line, but the 2 staff members were efficient and knowledgeable. Remember to bring your International Driving License! The guy in front of me argues for 45 min because he didn't have it, and he maintained there was no fine print that required it. Surprisingly, in the end he got a car nonetheless. Personally I had all documents in order, as I like to be prepared. I was offered an upgrade because they didn't have the car in my class. I am wary of these upgrades because gasoline is expensive in Europe, and a bigger car ends up costing more in gas, but on the spot there was no other option. The car was clean, almost new, ran well. The drop-off was a breeze, but it is worrisome because you get no proof that you dropped the car. With all due dilligence, I took pictures both before driving away in the car, and at drop off because I read numerous reviews that complain abut rental car companies charging them for scratches/dents months after the rental period ended. I declined their CDW because I had my credit card coverage, but it's still a hassle if something happens. It's always a relief when nothing bad happens with a rental car :) The Alamo staff, like many other rental car companies in Greece, have a standard measure for a scratch that is reported, so the small ones don't matter, they say. Anyway, I had a good experience with Alamo at Athens, and I recommend them.

I have rented a car twice at the Thrifty Car Rental Athens Airport and i am really happy with it’s service! Although i rented the car in August (high season) and April (on easter) there were no long waiting times or overpriced rental fees. The Custommer Service was always nice to me and bringing back the car went fast. (They just take a quick look on the car, ask if there were problems and let you go just after that). I rented a Kia Picanto both times. I recommend this rental service to all my friends and i will continue to rent my car there. :-)
