★ ★ ★ ★ ★ On Delos there were no numbers of the streets and no numbers either. How did then people know at which door to knock? By these kind of status at the entrance of the house. For sure, their looks needed to be renewed every few years, accordingly to the owners looks. Not the whole statue would be renovated, but just a head of it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Overall Delos was a disappointment. Inevitably there are too many peoples in large organised groups, but the site is not to the standard of say Olympia or even Epidavros.
You can see and admire the scale of the ancient town, but only one of the villas gave you a real idea of what it would have been like at the time.
Most of the mosaics are covered and therefore invisible.
As at Olympia, the quality of the information provided to visitors is poor, and given the huge amounts of cash the site generates, surely the Greek government could have spent a bit on some thoughtful restoration of at least one monument. Akrotiri on Santorini is a model of good practice it seems to me. It could and should be copied elsewhere.
