★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We passed to light a candle. It's a nice custom to do this, can be for somebody else or just for the wish of good health. The Monastery is full with flowers and plants. There is a beautiful serene atmosphere. Its really nice to just sit there for a while and enjoy everything around you. There is a small shop where you can buy 'orthodox themed' souvenirs and gifts. Find your own icon( name)!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Extremely serene and well maintained place. Definitely a stop over if you are passing by. The place is very beautifully decorated with many potted plants and trees. Parking is free and beside the road. There is a WC nearby

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hallowed ground considered as sanctuary. Traditionally used as a place for settling disputes peacefuly, or at least negotiating, since its religious backround ensured that no one from the opposing parties would end up getting killed in the heat of the moment.
It is revered by devout christians all over Crete and many still undertake the pilgrimage on foot on st.George's day.
