★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I received the full amount refunded what they initially blocked from my credit card, I didn’t go off road, even though I upgraded to the car which is allowed to go off road on their recommendation.
The customer service is not very welcoming, maybe due to the big turnover they have, that’s what was mentioned to me when I express my concern about lots of negative google reviews.
To be honest, I felt they don’t care about negative reviews at all :) apparently they are pretty sure those negative reviews wouldn’t ever affect them :D and they May be true, if you go on holidays in high season, you will have to use their car rentals if you have no other options.
My experience is quite neutral since I didn’t face any major issues and I’m happy to give three stars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Scammers! Do not rent a car with them!
On arrival if you don't have a proper credit card they charge you an extra 120€ to be able to pick up your car (with a 500€ cash deposit). You don't really have the choice since you cannot get your money back.
Then when you return the car they tell you that their 'system' has detected that you have been off road. (Apparently cars have a GPS tracker fitted, ). Since this is forbidden by a clause in the contract they charged an extra 300€ as a penalty fee. Note that this clause is not mentionned in the General Conditions when you book online, but they add it to the contract when you pick up the car. At this time, it's already too late to change your mind, since you can cancel only up to 24h before pick up.
I wish we had read reviews before booking with them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It is a scam. They charge you 45 euros if you dont have a credit card(not debit card) for extra insuranse. You pay 700 euros for unsuranse and if the car goes off road you get charged 350 euros. Never trusting again this company

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ George gave us a great hand back experience. Reassuring us we wouldn’t be charged as the car was undamaged. Also the cars have GPS trackers fitted and we didn’t go ‘off road’ so again weren’t charged for this. Please check with Abbycar rentals before you leave where on the island is off limits.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Now I understand why the reviews were so bad. Worst experience ever. In particular that they charged €300 for driving to a beach. Apparently they track everywhere you go with a GPS system. Booked through carjet.com.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Scam! They are not making money by renting cars, but by scamming you. If you are prepaid and can't cancel. Take pictures of car. Check bottom for covered scratches and don't go to any unpaved road for even a meter (there is gps in every car).. have a credit card physically, otherwise you will be double or more then the rent was.. Good luck!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Maybe we were one of the lucky ones, given the number poor reviews this company has had.
However we had no issues what so ever, checkin was efficient, staff were polite & we were warned not to drive off road (although when driving on some of the roads in Crete, the definition of off road would have been interesting to discuss)
When returning the car, the inspection was quick & efficient & the deposit was unblocked on my credit card that same day.
Given our experience, I would recommend.
