The Church of the Visitation, as is maintained today, was built in the 15th century on the foundations of two earlier churches, the oldest of whom was an early Christian basilica with narthex. It preserves important frescoes of the 15th century which adorn the sanctuary as the Virgin Our Lady, the Annunciation and the Saints Romanus and Simeon Stylites. In 1706 the church was painted new murals from which representations of the Visitation, the Annunciation stand out, the Nativity in the southern wall, Deposition of the north wall and Elkomenos Christ, the Crucifixion and the Assumption on the west wall.
The temple of Ypapanti, as it is preserved today, was built in the 15th century on the foundations of two earlier temples, the oldest of which was a paleo-Christian three-aisled narthex basilica. It retains important frescoes dating back to the 15th century that adorn the sanctuary's niche, such as Theotokos Platytera, Evangelismos and Saints Romanos and Simeon the Stylites. In 1706, the temple was painted with new frescoes, which featured the portraits of Ypapanti, Evangelismos, Nativity in the south wall, the Resurrection on the northern wall, and the Christ Elkomenos, the Crucifixion and the Assumption of the Virgin on the western wall.
